About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spend time with my friends and family, excel at my job, play music, read.

ABOUT ME

I'm a simple person. I like to keep the peace, make sure everyone is happy, and "go with the flow." I'm always trying to better myself mentally, emotionally, and physically. This mindset makes me excited to get to know everyone I meet, face every obstacle with as much effort as I can, and feel lucky for every day I get to spend in this remarkable life.

PHILOSOPHY

Be loving towards, thoughtful of, and respectful of others. Approach every challenge in life with confidence and gratitude.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My mom Nancy Nerenberg is a big couch surfer, so all through high school I was very used to having a new guest every week. Every couch surfer I've encountered has their own interesting story, a unique perspective on life, and a bit of wisdom to give.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing was a staple of my youth. I can't imagine growing up without meeting all the interesting, kind-hearted people who have slept on our couch over the years, or the gracious, generous hosts who put us up when we were away from home. I'm just now opening my own account, but thanks to my mom I've been participating in this great community for years.

Interests

Some of my hobbies include skateboarding, reading, hiking, working out, and learning about history. But my biggest passion is music. I think jamming out to great tunes, practicing piano, and noodling on the guitar with what little skill I have is one of the greatest pleasures in life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Among my favorite movies are The 400 Blows, In Bruges, Grand Budapest Hotel, and Drive.

Music: Music is my biggest passion. Elliott Smith is the greatest inspiration in my life, I have a portrait of him tattooed on my forearm. I love all kinds of music from jazz to classical to hip-hop to post-rock, I think every genre has its own sounds and feelings to share. However above all I am obsessed with Chet Baker, Miles Davis, Elliott Smith, Pavement, the Beastie Boys, Chopin, Debussy, Satie...

Books: Some of my favorite authors are Vladimir Nabokov, Ernest Hemingway, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and Henry Miller. If I had to choose one favorite book it would probably be Nabokov's Pale Fire. And of course as a 90s kid I have a strong emotional attachment to the Harry Potter series.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Volunteering as an English tutor in a high crime rate neighborhood in Washington, DC. My tutee Wilbur had moved from El Salvador to the US less than a year before I met him. Bonding with Wilbur was really eye-opening and gave me a new perspective.

You could have existed as any little group of matter anywhere in the universe. The fact that you exist as you are in this world is nothing short of amazing. This life is all we've got, cherish it!
