Hello! We are Milja and Patrick, a Finnish-American couple living in Finland. We are currently traveling in Europe for summer -24. We would enjoy meeting likeminded people and sharing meals and stories :)

Some fun/interesting/silly facts about us:
- Milja: I collect beautiful words (such as 'saudade' which means a nostalgic longing for something that no longer exists and knowing that it may never return) / I have memorized the longest place name in the world (we got to visit the place in NZ - it has 85 characters, and I'll teach it to you if you want!) / I love the scent of coffee, but I have never had even one cup / I once had a huge fireworks display in a famous location on my birthday
- Patrick: I may have dual citizenship with Ireland soon, even though I have not yet been there / I was on the first flight ever for one airline between major cities / I recently tried my first 3D printing and VR game

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We had an amazing adventure in New Zealand (December 2022 - January 2023). Thank you so much to everybody who hosted us and made that trip so unforgettable! We learned that the best, most rewarding way of travelling is experiencing it with locals. We truly appreciated our time with each host and it made us excited to host others in the near future!

We are avid readers and enjoy talking about books and receiving new book recommendations. We try to visit libraries wherever we go. Some of my favourite books are The Book Thief, All the Light We Cannot See, Life After Life, The City of Dreaming Books, The Nature Fix...

We enjoy going to gigs and playing different instruments. Some great artists: Hans Zimmer, Johanna Kurkela, Oh Wonder...

We will always be respectful of your home. We don't smoke. We can offer helping hands. We eat vegetarian food and would be happy to make our favourite dishes for or with you. We play different instruments, so if you have any instruments and would like to play for/with us or have us play something for you, that would be fun!
