About Me
Dear Sir/Madam,
First I would like to introduce myself. My name is Miljana Jovanovic and I’m a 24-year architecture student who has, by the risk of sounding melodramatic, seen the real architecture only on the internet and in architectural magazines that I read religiously. I can not say that I haven’t traveled anywhere. I’ve been to Greece in 3th grade of high school and that is probably the worst period of life to visit this kind of country. Nobody teaches you how to appreciate the historical monument, nobody encourages you to try new cuisines to get familiar with the customs and culture. My luck during this trip lies in my big obsession for the Greece religion and architecture, otherwise visiting places like Meteora would be interesting because you need to wear a long skirt. These are my friend words, not mine… I put Athens as one of the cities that I want to visit because now I feel more prepared to experience it though it’s true beauties.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Europe is in my opinion a continent with the biggest soul from all the rest. There are certain age when you come to realize that there are such life changing beauties and hidden cultural and architectural treasures. I see the trip as a treasure map, sometimes you follow the road, sometimes you get lost but every experience, good or bad, is leading you towards another excitement and every day with a new place you rediscover yourself.
Thank you for your patience while reading about the things that inspired me to apply for this kind of project.
Interests
In the perod from 2010 till 2014 I was focused entirely on my studies and during them nothing else existed. I'm not saying this because I regret something. It is the total opposite. I established what is my real passion in life. But like every passion devoting yourself to the same thing while not looking around can sometimes be overwhelming and exhausting. I found my relaxing place in Montenegro in a place called Zanjic close to Herceg Novi. Although I was working in a cafe for the whole summer, every summer during my studies, there was something peaceful in just lying on the sand during night and watching the stars, not thinking, putting plans at that moment aside and just enjoying the sound of the sea. To somebody it maybe sounds like a cliche but it isn’t.
At this moment I am in Warsaw, Poland on my working experience. Yes, again I’m working. I said that I was obsessed with architecture. Guilty as charged. Here I found a new passion. Wandering through unknown city, experiencing places and different people for the first time. Totally alone. Tasting new food, meeting all sorts of people. Warsaw is a city with one of the most tragic history. But comparing the pictures and maps of this city during World War II and now is like close to unbelievable and so moving. On almost every corner there is a construction site. People here say that when you're outside of Warsaw for a few years and you come back, it’s like getting the know the city all over again.
I hope that from this text that I typed down with true honesty and in a bit of a rush, you realize what are my motives for applying for this stupendous eurotrip. You don't get a chance like this to stroll through the streets of Berlin while the huge monumental buildings surround you, day after that to be on the top of Eiffel tower and to enjoy the sound of the Magic fountain in Barcelona the very next day.
