About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Survive this weird new reality.

ABOUT ME

I'm trying to experience as many facets of life as I can before I get too old to want to sleep on the ground anymore (this may be never). Basically, I want to have cool stories to tell when I'm 80.

I'm a photographer and a storyteller, a lot of my work involves inequality, drones, photography, and city issues. Normally I live in Cape Town, but I’m marooned in America until flights resume. So...I’m mostly staying w friends and family, camping and Couchsurfing. Now I'm living in NYC for a few months and am happy to open up my home to people for a place to stay. It's a great space, I love Manhattan, and an oasis from the chaos outside. There is fast WiFi and comfortable places to do work during the day inside, or outside at the many restaurants and coffee shops in the East Village or SoHo.

Of course I'm vaccinated and expect you to be as well.

PHILOSOPHY

Be positive, relax...Give away most of your stuff.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted some amazing people in Seattle and Cape Town, and also repaid the favor by staying with people all over the world. I think couchsurfing can impart the magic of human kindness, respect, and curiousity. It also happens to be a super cheap way to see the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - Anything, really. Rock, folk, rap, country.

Books - I like classic fiction, I like history, I like books on the new economy and future ways that society can be organized, etc.

Movies - Good movies, classic movies, kitsch movies. My roommate is a producer and runs a film festival in town so we always are surrounded by good film.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I walked from Mexico to Canada one summer...that was pretty amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some photo skills, take you rock climbing, take you surfing, hiking, trail running, or whatever you want to do outdoors in this amazing city. I like to cook - I'm very very keen to cook with anyone who stays with me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm happy to share my knowledge, cook, even see some sights and give whatever I can to travelers in the city. I probably won't be joining you to the bars until 4am, so if you're looking for a real NYC party experience you might want to find a different host.
