Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My husband, Mark, and I tour all over the US sharing our music. Fabulous people host us and allow us to sleep on their couches or guest beds, which makes our touring possible and more meaningful. Time with our hosts often involves reflective, late night talks, playing board or card games, and us building lego castles with your kids....We pick up our towels and are quick to load the dish washer too!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Though this wasn't an official couch surfing experience, one night I got locked out of my apartment when I was living in a village in Uganda. It was my first day there, so I thought it was as good of time as any to meet my neighbors! An incredible woman took me in, served me rolls, jam, and hot tea with milk and shared stories with me till midnight, though she had to wake up early the next morning for her commute to work. I found out later that the bed she had brought into the living room for me was HER bed. I was so incredibly humbled and thankful to have NOT taken my grandmother's most repeated advice "Don't talk to strangers!"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I shared an unexpected moment with a sunbathing baby sea lion on an otherwise empty Argentinian beach in the middle of a sunrise run.

Teach, Learn, Share

I teach private flute lessons, and a little personal training. My husband and I love to listen to people, and we find ourselves counseling and sometimes too. We like to help people dream, be free, and have hope. I'd love to learn more about other countries, song writing, poetry, cooking, massage therapy, Asian food, the art of story telling, and how to tell a joke well.
