Hello! I’m Millie (26yo), a solo female backpacking the world. I started travelling with my ex partner Blake in April 2023 but we decided to spend some time exploring the world on our own to grow as individuals. During my travels this summer, I met Eleonora, an Italian girl who is also solo travelling - so we have teamed up and are now travelling together around Spain.

I love to travel slow and spontaneously booking 1-2 days in advance because I never know who I will meet and I want to be open to every opportunity.

Both Ele and I are friendly open-minded girls who love meeting new people, nature, walking, movies nights, and discovering new places. We are both travelling for as long as we can on the money we both saved working together in Austria for the summer.

Our favourite part of travelling is definitely trying the local foods. We are both vegetarian which can be difficult sometimes - but we can’t resist some good pastries, gelato and bread.

Since leaving New Zealand over 1.5 years ago, I have visited 22 countries, volunteered, and worked the winter season in Austria.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The reason we love to travel is to explore the rich cultures of each country and what better way of doing that than staying with amazing locals who can provide knowledge into the culture with cooking, language, sightseeing etc. We would love to hang out with hosts to see their favourite spots and restaurants as we are big foodies!

Sometimes we feel overwhelmed in big cities which is why we want to stay with locals who can show us the best parts (touristic but non-touristic) of their city.

We also love hearing other people’s travel stories as everyone has such a different way and view of travelling so to us this is very interesting.
