Overview
About Me
I'm a happy ol' soul.
I like wandering and figuring things out and making things and having a laugh with new folks and old folks.
I live in Ireland but I try to spend a bit of time each year on the road.
I make art- sometimes sculptures and paintings for festivals, sometimes sets and costumes for theatre, or stuff to put on walls in houses, or on your head at parties, or just drawings that look like a child made them.
I studied permaculture to learn more about food, energy, building, doing things that benefit people and the planet mutually.
I've learnt a lot that'll hopefully help when I build a house and garden for myself. That's the dream- a simple shack with a few well-chosen luxuries and the sea not far away. And an outdoor kitchen. And a surfboard. And some animals. And good boots for hiking. And a nice cup to drink coffee from after the hikin'.
PHILOSOPHY
I think things work out well if you can stay excited and curious and aim for happiness and health.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Some of my most cherished memories are of times on the road shared with complete strangers who are now the dearest friends. So many wonderful people have taken me into their homes and lives and other times I've shared my own home with new friends. These are the experiences that make life rich and exciting.
Interests
Being outdoors, drawing, making useful things, being able to fix broken things, leather-tooling, horse riding/ pretending to be Butch Cassidy, the sea, mountains, forests, skateboarding if there's enough space to slow down because I'm not great at stopping after hills, music that makes me want to get up to mischief, adventures with friends on any day of the week, cooking, campfires, fermented foods. This is new for me but I'm intrigued. I went to California and got into fermentation and green juices. I think California does that to a lot of people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The first mountain I climbed on my own was in Scotland in the West Highlands. It wasn't a big one or even a particularly challenging one but it made my soul soar. It was springtime and warm at the base but capped in snow. When I got to the top a snow storm dropped in. It was ok, I knew it was coming and it was right on schedule. The world beneath disappeared from view completely. It was just me on a craggy outcrop and a flurry of wind-driven snow below and I felt like I'd reached another world. I tucked my jumper and coat into my waterproof trousers (a very seductive look) and slid down the sheltered side on my bum. Even though I had to be super careful in case there were rocks or cliffs, I laughed like a madman all the wall down.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to sew. That's super handy when you're on the road and your pants rip or you catch your shirt in a door handle and make a big hole in it.
I'd like to learn to play a guitar duet (or any instrument) with my limited skills.
