About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have"
ABOUT ME
Just started a two year stint in Berlin for a masters program. I'm originally from Vancouver Island, Canada, and spent the last few years checking in and out of Vancouver. Before that I've paid rent in Montréal, Glasgow, and Nelson (Canada), but despite this still struggle mightily to speak French, Scottish, or skibum ;)
my favourite activities include eating cheese and annoying my two sisters at every opportunity. when not doing that, you might find me on the water kayaking or sailing, or possible up on the ski hill trying to squeeze in one last run. i have a major weakness for reading and movies, and always enjoy talking a little armchair politics. although i cant cook to save my life i love good food (see 'cheese' above), and its always a highlight of travelling when i get to try wacky stuff.
PHILOSOPHY
"I think it was John Lennon who said 'Life is what happens when you're making other plans'. Although he also said 'I am the Walrus, I am the eggman' so I don't know what to believe" Tim, The Office
"When life gives you lemonade make lemons. Life will be all, like, 'WHAT?!?!'" Phil Dunphy
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
although i joined in 2009 i haven't been very active on the site. i've heard many good things from friends and other travellers, and if i ever get my own place i definitely want to start hosting. in the meantime, if i'm on the road i'd love to become acquainted with both you and your couch :D
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
over the years i've slept on plenty of couches (always following 'low-impact-camping' procedures) with friends and people i've met on the road, only rarely through the actual website. i'm hoping to change that, i'm really looking forward to trying it out!

Music, Movies, and Books
dont get me started! while backpacking a minimum 38.6% of the total weight in my bag will be dedicated to books.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
one winter I got to join a curling league (think shuffle board on ice but played with large 'rocks'). It's super fun and waaaaay harder than it looks, comes highly recommend
Teach, Learn, Share
I've been trying to learn french since i was about 9, and pretty much been an utter failure at it ever since. if you've got the patience to sit and chat while i completely butcher one of the more lyrical languages on the planet i will be forever grateful
also, i love playing ultimate, only problem is my forehand throw is rather atrocious. would be great if you could help me out!
What I Can Share with Hosts
if you've got a metal bowl and a whisk, there is an eggs benny in your future :)
