Overview
About Me
Im a history of art graduate living and teaching in Shanghai, China. I was born near London, studied in Edinburgh and my family also has a house in the Limousin region of France, so I spent a lot of my youth there. I studied sustainable development alongside my main degree in art history, so I am all for the sharing economy.
Although I've had this since 2015, Im only now using it (in 2019). That being said I have been hosting various friends (and friends of friends) for a while!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm all for the sharing economy! This includes couchsurfing, freecycling and just genuinely making sure everyone is happy! I have also discovered through my travels that the best way to get to know a place is to get to know its people!
Interests
Im very into arts and crafts, such as making wind chimes out of sea glass I've collected around the Scottish coastlines. I love hiking, hill walking and just exploring the wilderness! I'm a little (ok, not so little) bit of a history nerd so am always ready to learn about the local area!
Ive put a link to my instagram because I think images are a good way to get to know someone!

Music, Movies, and Books
Gotta be folk rock, or indie folk, such as The Morning Jacket, First Aid Kit, Sufjun Stevens, The Staves ect... aI also really like indie/alternative rock, so The National, The Boxer Rebellion, The Maccabees etc... basically anything that is chill, probably a little sad, and not too heavy!
Im actually dyslexic, so me reading anything more than required for my studies is a rarity, however I've read, like pretty much everyone else, the Harry Potter series too many times to count. Im also half way through Yukio Mishima's ‘Sea of Fertility’ series (he was the subject of my dissertation, so I thought I should give his work a go... 100% would recommend)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I moved to China from Britain... thats pretty amazing!
Teach, Learn, Share
Im a qualified English teacher (international child protection certificate and all), although I mainly teach classes of around 40 6-10 year olds... Im also full of lots of art historical information if you want me teach you about that!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Im a pretty good cook (although they don’t have ovens in most Chinese flats, so I’m a little rusty), and I’m very arty so can teach you how to sew! I’m a very laid back person so would be keen to explore with my hosts/guests but am also cool with exploring on my own if they don’t want to!
