About Me

I've just qualified as a doctor in England but have now changed career paths to become a graphic designer - a little crazy I know but I've decided to embrace my passion for art & design and make it into a career - if we meet I'll try to explain why I made such a difficult decision!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people from around the world and make new friends and discover the real culture of a country rather than just the superficial tourist side. I've heard great stories from my friends about their CS experiences which encouraged me to give it a go.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books & Film- too many to name- but if you like Harry Potter that's a good start :)
TV- Stranger Things, Orphan Black, Orange is the New Black, The Office US, Parks & Recreation, Firefly, Buffy, The Walking Dead, Community, I also love watching documentaries on the BBC/Netflix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Only one!? So difficult!

🇳🇦NAMBIA- Spending my 18th birthday on the remote and restricted Skeleton Coast, Nambia- like being on another planet, also if you've never slid down a sand-dune simultaneously with a bunch of people you must try it- it makes the craziest sound, like a jet engine, so surreal.
🇳🇿NZ- Travelling around New Zealand with the Stray Bus- my first experience of solo travelling.
Hobbiton, remote sheep station (Blue Duck Station-a place like no other), skydiving over Lake Taupo, Tongariro Crossing- best 1 day walk in the world, Waitomo Glowworm caves, jumping off the Sky Tower in Auckland, Cathedral Cove.
🇵🇱 INDONESIA - Seeing orangutangs in the wild in Borneo, watching the sunrise on the top of Borobudur, Java. Cycling around the countryside between temples.
Scuba diving in the Gili Islands off Lombok.
Somebody tried to buy me from my father in a market- that was an experience!
🇧🇿BELIZE- Seeing a whale shark/bull shark feeding frenzy in Belize- although we couldn't get in the water because of the bull sharks so watched from a boat- so still have to find a whale shark whilst diving!
Spotting Manatees in the wild, it took a lot of patience but so glad we stuck it out.
Attempting paddle boarding with my brother for the first time- we were terrible and kept falling in it was hilarious.
🇹🇨TURKS & CAICOS - My first ever scuba dive-when I was only 10 years old, completely spoilt by the Turks and Caicos - saw a reef shark and a ray, pretty good for a first timer!
🇵🇪 PERU - Seeing Machu Picchu for the first time after a 4 day trek, such an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
🇬🇧 UK- Brimham Rocks- just round the corner from my home in Harrogate, UK- the best place for dog walks.
Bouncing on an underground, 3 level trampoline in a cave/old slate mine, in Snowdonia, Wales.
🇺🇸 USA- Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando- the ulimate dream for a HP nerd like me!
🇭🇺HUNGARY- stumbling across the changing of the guard in front of Sandor Palace, completely unplanned, and only about 10 other people being there to watch it, so different to the crowds at Buckingham Palace.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you are kind enough to host me I will draw you a picture of your home/a favourite place in your city as a thank you- please see my photos for some examples!

I can teach you about English culture and history; I went to a very famous boarding school between ages of 8-18 which is very unusual in England so can tell you more about my experiences. My school (Rugby School) was also where the international sport of Rugby was invented so I can tell you more about the history of the sport and its crazy rules!

I can help you practice your English.
I would love to share meals with you and learn about your local foods.

I'm always trying to improve my photography skills- if you have any tips it would be much appreciated!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will give you a drawing your home (or a favourite place in your city) as a thank you for letting me CS with you. Depending on when we confirm the request I may be able to bring something over from the UK for you if there is something in particular you are after.

My experiences as a student doctor in the NHS have given me some funny stories to share.

I'm also a big foodie and love to cook (and eat!) food from all cultures - maybe I can cook you something- I promise English food is much better than its reputation!

I would love to experience some of your favourite local places with you- cultural sites, cafes, restaurants etc.
