About Me

Hi! I'm Milly, I live with my partner Isaac not far from Newcastle city center and we enjoy a pretty laid-back life style. They are a freelance artist and I study with the Open University, so we are both in the home a lot. Right now I am going through treatment for cancer which is due to finish in February 2018. Because of this I may not be hosting for some time.

We are open minded and both love food and cats! We only have a hamster, and pets are definitely welcome. I love to talk both history and politics, Isaac is also very philosophical and would happily discuss existentialism with you ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel Europe and meet people, hear about their experiences and share our cultures. Culture sharing is super important to me, which is why I don't opt for hotels and tourist stuff. I wanna experience real life in the countries I visit, and I want to share that with my guests too.

Interests

My interests are: Postcrossing, Geocaching, Debating, Planning/Organising (I love bullet journals), Tabletop Gaming (I would love to play a game with you!!), Dancing/Listening to live music, Exploring public transport in new places, Eating new/interesting foods, Talking about history/politics/philosophy

Isaacs interests are: Art/drawing/sketching etc, anything creative and artistically immersive, Exploring nature and being outside, Collecting vintage army gear, Altering and dying clothes, Relaxing (in all forms), Philosophy and spirituality

Music, Movies, and Books

Milly - I love general electronic, in particular: baths, bibio, tame impala, yellow ostrich. Favourite book is 1984, anything with a social commentary will win me over. Films, same jazz. I love thinky films and struggle to follow anything else.

Isaac - Pretty much all music from rave to reggae! Can't really read but love philosophical fantasy and enjoy a good graphic novel. Favourite films are generally psychological thrillers and GOOD sci-fi.

Teach, Learn, Share

We live in an upstairs flat, two bedrooms, a spacious living room, kitchen, separate bathroom and toilet and an office space. You are welcome to use our washing machine and we have good wifi too. Our netflix account is yours to use whilst you are here, and we do not have a shower, just a bath. If there is 1 person staying you will have a room to yourself, a single bed and bedding provided. If 2-3 people are staying, there is a double sofa bed in the living room. During the day, the bed must be folded away however if you need space/time alone, you can use the spare bedroom at any time, or perhaps the office space. We have a garden however it's only grass.

I study history and have studied the history of the area, not in depth but enough to provide information and to give a tour. I love my city (Newcastle) and would be happy to take you to many locations in the area, depending on your interests. If you wish to go alone, I can happily tell you where to go and what to see. I love to cook, and would love to cook you a dish from England or even a local dish! We cannot provide every meal but I am happy to offer some/most!

Isaac can teach you clothes dying techniques or share art with you, if you want to do so. We are happy and open to sharing with you whatever you would like to learn or do! Just tell us.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Isaac creates art and I am a writer, we both love a good conversation and to help people. We are happy to cook for you and to bring our own meals, and incredibly flexible on rules. If you ask, we will do.

We have experience volunteering for families, particularly farming families, and would happily provide work in exchange for hospitality. I swap postcards worldwide and will bring one from home, if you wish, and small gifts are always on hand.
