Overview
About Me
I am a father of four grown adults and grandfather to seven beautiful children. I have had an active passport since I was one year old. I am a Christian but have no affiliation to any organized religion. The preservation of the environment is very important to me as well as theological studies and discussions of politics. The gifts of art and illustrating, as well as an ability to write have been bestowed upon me by the Grace of God, though I have rarely used my talents as a way to earn a living; generally, I've used my abilities to entertain children.
I no longer consider myself divorced, but rather simply single, after all, it's been 32 years and I never remarried.
Before working in the education system, I spent 20 years working in nature as an arborist, preserving the life of trees. I have also worked as a model for artists, an actor, a stand-up comedian, an inline skating instructor, and in bars & cafes. I believe life is too rich to just do one thing and live in one place.
I am best known for my quick wit, sense of humor, and desire to learn. In the past, Ive also studied ballet and tap dancing.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In all my travels, I have never stayed in touristy hotels. I try to avoid Americans, unless, of course, I'm in America in a different location other than the San Francisco Bay Area. I like to meet and socialize with the natives of the countries I'm visiting, otherwise, why go?
Most often I've stayed in hostels, stayed with friends, or camped out. One of my former jobs was in a youth hostel in Venice Beach, California. I loved it and made many lifelong friends from throughout the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm rather eclectic in my tastes for music. I have no one singular form that I car for more than any other.
When it comes to movies I enjoy intelligent comedies, musicals, sci-fi-fi, suspense, fantasy, and drama. I have no regard for horror nor slasher genre; blood and guts do not appeal to me.
When it comes to books, I tend to lean towards the classics, theological, humor, and graphic novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I skated down the coast of California from north of San Francisco to Los Angeles in four and a half days with a backpack and tent. I basically lived on trail mix and water. I did it in celebration of my 40th birthday. The biggest thrill were the people I met along the way.
Teach, Learn, Share
I enjoy teaching art. To teach another to really see what is before them. Also, I love to teach scripture; it is surprising how many people who consider themselves religious or spiritual have never fully read their Holy books. I also like to learn of others' faiths through them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Whatever they desire, be it foods, conversations, a good laugh. I am open to gifting my hosts for their generous offer of a place to stay.
