About Me

I am a musician that believes in being curious throughout life. I have friends and band members of all ages, and love getting to know new places and people. I value human contact and a close and honest relationship to ones (sub)consciousness or inner self. To me the spreading of positive energy and knowledge is also vital. I enjoy improvisation and finding alternate ways to live life. I am a vegetarian since before birth, and I try to burden this world as little as possible.

I am quite open, social, adaptable, calm and friendly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I find the concept of Couchsurfing in line with my way of thinking, and would love to meet people whereever I go through this wonderful community. I believe in living life the way it brings most purpose to one's existence. In my case, I would rather spend time on things that are valuable and developing for me, than to sit in an office working everyday. Therefor I try to live life with lower expenses and more time to do important things. Couchsuring is amazing, because it helps strangers get in touch and reminds them that they are more alike than different, and that we are all one. It encourages genuine hospitality, humility, an open way of thinking, warm human-to-human contact and finding ways around big companies that try to make money off of ordinary individuals.

Interests

I have been playing music for ten years, and five years ago I started playing banjo which is my main instrument. Music is one of my biggest passions in life, together with travelling. I have played in a traditional bluegrass band called Rookie Riot, since two years, and now I am also working with a few other music groups, such as Lakeside Sessions, from Finland and Stockholm. With the latter crew I recorded an album in November.

I have practiced martial arts for eleven years, mostly kung-fu and aikido. I recently started learning iaido. I feel a strong connection to budo in general, both physically and mentally. I enjoy the respectful mindset of japanese tradition, where you never make a fuss about yourself, but treat others with great esteem and often awe.

I am also intrigued by philosophy, questions of ethic and morality, hinduism and more specifically Krishna Consciousness.

I want to do something meaningful with my time in this body. I value characteristics like honesty, loyality, helpfulness and keeping an open mind to new knowledge and more fullfilling ways to live life.

I am engaged in the foodsharing movement, more specifically I help with an organisation called 'Solidariskt kylskåp' (Solidary Refrigerator in English) in Gothenburg, where I live. We work with grocery stores and some restaurants and are saving and distributing perfectly eatable food that would otherwise be thrown away. I find making use of resources that already exist, giving food for free to other people, helping eachother and sharing knowledge without any involvement of money, as well as living off of stuff that would have just ended up rotting at a dump somewhere, a very rewarding experience that brings importance and a feeling of accomplishment to the everyday life.

I used to be into fantasy a lot and enjoyed things like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Merlin, Warhammer and so on. I listen to a lot of radio, podcasts, audio books and news, mainly in Swedish, English or German. I try not to cloud the mind with desinformation in the shape of fairy tales for children, and rather interest myself in what is going on in the real world, actual problems and important discoveries. I like reading and learning new things about almost anything. However, I am rather keen on crime stories, for instance Agatha Christie's works. I am reading "A Song of Ice and Fire" as of right now. I might not finish it, because I would like to read Bhagavad Gita from Mahabharata, as well as Sidharta (by Herman Hesse).

Some of my favourite TV-series are:

Wolf Hall (Henry VIII's court, Mark Rylance as Thomas Cromwell)
The Miniaturist
Babylon Berlin
Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch)
Poirot (David Suchet)
Endeavour (Shaun Evans as young Morse)
Innan vi dör (Swedish TV-series, "Before We Die")
Game of Thrones

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once peed off an abandoned eleven stories high skyscraper in central Berlin at four AM. Another time, in Greece, I swam into an 80 meters long water-filled vulcanic cave tunnel and found a tiny beach with white pebbles at the end - talk about feeling like Gollum in there, crawling around on all four in the darkness. Furthermore, I have never ever eaten meat in my life. Well, I guess that counts, eventhough it is a thing I have not done.

Okay, now I have spent way too much time filling out this profile.

Teach, Learn, Share

I will tell you all you need to know (and a little more) about the banjo and bluegrass music, and in exchange I'd like to take part of your expertness and know-how. I want to share language knowledge, and personal experiences from travelling and from life itself. I would like to discuss meaningful subjects and skip some of the small talk. It would be fun to get together with friends and understand better how life is for people at your place. We can cook together, too. I am interested in learning more about most things.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Philosofical, religious reflections, music, hopefully friendship too.

Adventures and fun unexpected experiences together, one of my talents. I am already looking forward to it.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Denmark, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Iceland, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden
