Overview
About Me
Hi !
I'm Emilie, a 23 curious-optimist-open minded girl from Belgium. I'll be travelling to Australia and New Zealand from mid-January with a really good friend, Camille (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/camilleknauf), for 4 months.
Camille and I just finished our studies in architecture, and before beginning working, we wanted to take a break (escape from the reality?), cross our borders and taste the adventure. Learn and discover, experiment and grow.
Why Australia and New Zealand? Both of us were long time attracted by those two countries and their culture, so it was definitely the perfect time for exploring them !
And because we want to combine travelling, meeting people and learning, we also have planned some volunteering during our trip, beginning in Tasmania. We're especially interested in eco-, sustainable-, creative-, construction- projects.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Finally that's very simple : I'm - and we are actually - on Couchsurfing because we consider that the best way to understand a country is by sharing with people who live there.
From our point of view, CS is definitely a good way to go off the beaten tracks and get out of our comfort zone (in the sense that we're not perfectly bilingual and couchsurfing is a good way to improve that).

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - My tastes are clearly eclectic, and actually, I listen to nearly everything :
the good old ones like Dire Straits, Depeche Mode, Simple Minds, Archive and generally the new wave movement, but also trance, techno and minimal.. on the other side I really love more "soft" pop/indie songs, just as a good track of piano.
Movies - I still have a looooong list of movies to watch, but I particularly love historic, adventure movies
Books - My favorites authors : JMG Le Clézio, Laurent Gaudé (magic metaphors and poetry)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Probably when I travelled to Jordan, 5 years ago. It was the first time I left Europe, and all theses contrasts comparing to our home were stunning.
What I Can Share with Hosts
We choose CS because of its sharing part that we can't find in a hotel. So lets go for a good dinner (we can cook!), a drink around a nice conversation or a walk around your place... Or everything together ! We're easy going and always motivated for discovering something new.
Of course, as you welcome us, it's obvious that we'll be very willing to help you, in a mutuel respect.
