About Me

***************************************************************************************************************************************
IMPORTANT: WHETHER YOU ARE A GUEST OR HOST, OR LOOKING FOR A BUDDY TO HANG OUT WITH, PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO READ MY PROFILE ENTIRELY, BOTH 'ABOUT' AND ESPECIALLY 'MY HOME' SECTIONS BEFORE CONTACTING ME.
I WILL KNOW IF YOU DIDN'T! THANK YOU :-)

Welcome to my couch surfing profile! My profile is the result of an extended period of time thinking about how I can best portray myself to my prospective host or guests. As you can see, it takes more than 5 minutes! I would encourage you before sending me a message, that you make sure you profile is filled out in full and has as much information in it that you would consider to be sufficient in order to let a stranger into your house... which by the way, is a pretty private and privileged place to get accepted into. Please don't take it for granted.

My final piece of advice to those seeking my couch, or just wish to meet up: As I get numerous requests, I am looking for a person that stands out a little, that has put some effort into their request by reading my profile and showing WHY you would like to meet me :-) Please read 'MY HOME' sections for more details.
Thank you for reading, and hope to see you soon!

Q and A:

***Where do you come from?
I do not have a hometown, or a place to go back to. Due to my father's work, I've been living a nomadic lifestyle since the day I was born. I may sound dramatic here, but this is part of myself and my lifestyle :-) Long story short, I am ethinically half French, and half Japanese; but also identify myself as a TCK.

***What is a TCK (Third Culture Kid)?
-Children that were raised in a culture other than their parents for a significant part of their early development years. I was exposed to a greater variety of cultural influences and moved between cultures before I've had the opportunity to fully develop my personal and cultural identity. It doesn't make me feel less French or Japanese. But my childhood spent in New York, Hong Kong, Seoul and Beijing, strongly influenced the way I think, see, and observe things.

***Extrovert or Introvert?
-I love the company of other people. I can be very talkative be found in social scenes. But I identify myself as an introvert. Sometimes I need to spend some time alone to recharge my energy :)

***Hobbies?
-SALSA! (Mainly Mambo / On 2 / NY style, but can also dance Cuban and LA style (On 1), as well as some other latin dances. If you are also a dancer, you will have my full attention :)
-Sailing (I have an instructor's licence!)
-Yoga!
-Museums and art galleries

***Things I wish I was better at:
-Reading a map / not getting lost / keeping my plants alive

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

-To make the world smaller.
-Getting out of my comfort zone.

Meeting people through CS has truly inspired me. I've been fortunate to have met remarkable individuals so far, and some of them have become very good friends that I see again everytime I get the chance.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Getting a teaching license in a male-dominated sport. I am a tiny girl but can sail solo on a 16 foot catamaran sailing boat with 5-7 beauforts (AKA super windy). I've been sailing since I was 9 y/o. I can also conduct a motor boat.

Teach, Learn, Share

Happiness never decreases by being shared!

I am a very curious person by nature and enjoy exchanging thoughts on a variety of topics (politics, sociology, gender issues, behavioral psychology, science, health, etc.)
If you are curious, open-minded, slightly nerdy and open to intellectual discourse, I think we'll get along very well :o)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I do not drink or party much, and not very good with big indoor crowds (i.e. concerts, busy bars). However I can provide good company, have intellectual or silly conversations, share my experience growing up as a TCK (see above), I can be your cooking buddy, or boat skipper/crewgirl.

I can also teach French or Japanese and in exchange I'd love to learn some words in your native language :-)
