Hi my name is Mindy Hawes and I'm currently traveling cross country and starting a job with the American Conservation Experience starting late April in Santa Cruz, California. I was a web designer and buyer at McKevlins Surf Shop in Charleston, SC and am making a change to explore the US and try something new. My main focus going cross country is hiking, camping, surfing, and exploring new cities.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While traveling cross country couch surfing will give me the opportunity to take a breather from hiking and camping out along the way. I would also like a safe place to stay and rest my head with good company when I'm in between destinations and visiting new cities. Music, Movies, and Books

Charles Bukowski is my favorite poet. The punch brothers, frightened rabbit are some of my music choices, but I love all music (ranging from metal/classical).
I love philosophy books such as the Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favorite hike was Mont Blanc hiking through Italy Switzerland and France.
