About Me

I'm a Hong Kong-born global nomad and third-culture kid, and I've also lived in the Swiss Alps, upstate New York, London, Washington, DC and Bonn to date. Studying for a master's in sustainability in the Munich area.

Home for me is both everywhere and nowhere, and I have no intention of settling down anytime soon!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It all started when I booked a last-minute trip to York when I was living in London, then realized all of the hostels were full! I'm also a big fan of the idea of the real sharing economy - not black-market rentals like Airbnb or Uber.

Interests

I'm always interested in hearing ideas that challenge mainstream thinking - particularly those related to social justice and sustainability. Travel is a big part of that too: I'd like to see a world where political borders are irrelevant and nation-states are a thing of the past, as far-fetched as that might sound today.

I've also been interested in aviation since I was a little kid, and flying is definitely my biggest guilty pleasure.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm mainly into melodic death metal and a few other subgenres generally at the heavier end of the metal spectrum: Dark Tranquillity, Amorphis, In Flames, Insomnium, Paradise Lost, Meshuggah, Devin Townsend, and more.

I don't remember the last time I watched a movie or read a fiction book (seriously), but my favourite books are E. F. Schumacher's "Small is Beautiful," Eduardo Galeano's "Open Veins of Latin America," and Jared Diamond's "Collapse."

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once visited four continents in ten days (it's a long story but revolves around some airline staff ticket technicality when my dad was working in the airline industry). Being an avid flyer, I couldn't complain.

Teach, Learn, Share

As an aviation geek, I could teach you to identify planes at airports, use the Flightradar24 app, and understand air traffic control jargon! All very useful stuff (/sarcasm).

I'm pretty useless at languages sadly, after spending most of my life in English-speaking environments, but I'm trying to catch up on that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've also got plenty of irrelevant trivia stuck in my head mostly related to geography, aviation and airlines, in case anyone's interested at all. Probably not.
