ABOUT ME

"Have love, will travel" captures my attitude of life rather well. I feel loved every day as I am blessed with a vast circle of friends and family. I'm really into travelling and it took me a while to realise I can be as happy in Helsinki as in London or anywhere else in the world. But travel junkie as I am, in 2012 I've been travelling to destinations like Sydney, Kosovo and Mexico City - and loving every bit of it!

A traveller, gipsy, explorer. Currently travelling around North America, next destination being New York City, NY.

PHILOSOPHY

I try to live my life so that I don't have to regret the things I've done, only the ones I have left undone.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I'm about to flee the country I cannot really host anyone at this point. But once I've return to Helsinki, I would like to meet new people and show them the best parts of the city. Helsinki is so beautiful in summer! In a meantime, as I will be travelling around Australia, USA and Canada, I'm hoping to meet like-minded people and get the most of the places I'll be visiting through coach surfing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Have had my first experiences with couch surfing here in Australia and man, they have been good ones! I might have become a tiny bit addicted to it - couch surfing really puts travelling into a new, more exciting level. Cannot wait for the next time :)

I LOVE food so if you can show me around cool restaurants, bistros or tapas bars or in any other way initiate me in the secrets of local food culture, I'll be forever grateful to you. And will award you with a superb cake, that's a promise!

Recently I have also fallen in love with hiking. Seen so many beautiful places in Tasmania and the Blue Mountains I'm eager to find out about hiking possibilities in other places as well. Next target, Hawaii!

I also get very excited about dancing and music in general so bring on night clubs, bars, cabarets or moonlight dances on the beach - I'm on!

As you might have guessed from my description already (if any familiar with bands like The Sonics) I also feel rather strongly about music. It highlights the best moments in life, soothes the pain and, most of all, brings me alive when I hit the dance floor. I listen almost everything, from electro and minimal techno to R & B and indie rock.

I also love to read. Here are some books that have made a profound impression on me: Orlando by Virginia Woolf, Everything I loved by Siri Hustved, Siddhartha by Herman Hesse, The hours by Michael Cunningham and The Blindness by José Saramago to mention a few.

Favourite movies include Control, Amélie, Todo Sobre Me Madre, Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life, The Hours, V for Vendetta and Brokeback Mountain.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

As I have got my share of travelling, there's quite many amazing stories to share...

One of the most intense experiences so far must have been my trip to West Africa some years ago. I spent four weeks in Benin, Togo and Ghana which was everything: amazing, invigorating as well as somewhat tiring. People were friendly, hospitable and curious, kids following you everywhere. Light was very specific one as a sandy wind from Sahara would cover everything. As I have always been interested in witchcraft and religions the most awesome single event was the national voodoo day of Benin when people were greeting the voodoo priests and dancing in trance kind of state...Now when looking back to that trip it sometimes feels like a dream.
