About Me

CURRENT MISSION

♥ music + movement = magic ♥

ABOUT ME

probable constants:
i am a daughter, a sister, a friend, a girlfriend.

in addition:
i find blowing soap bubbles a great way to relax.
i enjoy occasional cups of coffee (preferably dark roasted & with a lot of hot milk).
i move from being meditative to whirly, talkative to silent, introvert to out-going; back and forth and back again, calm and wild; grounded and open.
Aalto is the Finnish word for wave. :)

PHILOSOPHY

as a certain Howard Thurman put it:
"Don’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. What the world longs for is people who have come alive."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i enjoy catching glimpses of the everyday of people while traveling & through conversation - in fact it interests me more than most museums & other similar institutions.
depending on schedule/whereabouts/energy levels, my (metaphorical) couch is available mostly sporadically & spontaneously. give it a try. ♥

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

i realized couch surfing has been my way of staying in places for years already (and hosting people in return, for sure). :)
my first experience(s) through this forum took place during my Portland stay in October 2011, and it was beautiful.

Interests

...dancing - watching - reading - listening to and making music - walking - playing - meditating - being kind - co-creating meaningful conversations, or nonsense-ones, depending on the mood & circumstances - writing - being inspired & inspirational - trusting life...

i like fresh air, and space.
and i like to make music i can breath to.

Music, Movies, and Books

i think the trait the movies, music and/or books i spend most time with have in common is the presence of layers - in harmonies, plots, metaphors, characters, approaches, perspectives, whatever (and this fits everything from zombies to Marie Antoinette).

a bit more specifically:

movies - just watched Blake Edwards' The Party - the genious chaos of it gets me every time (like the party scene in Breakfast at Tiffany's). above-mentioned Marie Antoinette is still my favourite Sofia Coppola-movie - i enjoy the way her work leaves space for me to breath in & how the meditational quality of it leaves my mind very unclustered at the end.
and the zombies - i buy it as long as it goes together with my perception of with either a critical eye or warm-hearted humour.
i found Where the Wild Things are beautiful, and the likes of Moulin Rouge or Kung Fu Hustle get me thanks to the colours; Happy-Go-Lucky, The Sweetest Thing and Bridesmaids appeal to me since they're touching the spirit of my own chick-ness.

there are a lot of pearls out there, thank heaven. if it gets too artsy or mechanic for my taste i get bored.

music - i don't pay so much attention to names or genres, whatever heartfelt which moves me at any given time gets my appreciation & attention.
and, i'd like to say that i love Kate Bush for a) making the music she does and b) making the music she does the way she does it. thank you for not touring! :D

books - i realize (and accept slowly), that i'm fairly little interested in fiction (having said that, i find Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" and Richard Bach's Illusions is pretty good takes on religiousness/spiritualiy). i'm picky about who i allow to take up space in my bookshelf, and most of what i read is concerned spirituality, in ways or others (with emphasis on poetic/mystical/practical).
Clarissa Pinkola Estes' "Women Who Run With The Wolves" strikes a chore, Christiane Norhtrup & SARK are appreciated, fine ladies.
i enjoy occasional doses of Osho, and Hafiz is one of my ultimate favourite poets. and i thank R.A. Wilson's "Shchrödinger's Cat" for having gotten me on back on track years ago. :)

and so on.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

...actually, i delight most in the small & continuous wonders i feel i get to witness on daily basis by just being alive.
having said that, i must say i find the sky an on-going miracle. and all those rainbows... and falling stars... and hugs! and the miraculous clicks that can happen between people... or movement and music... or the sung and the played...
and man oh man, falling in love is just as big a thing as they say it is. ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

i teach Nia, a sensory-based holistic movement form, and take pleasure in solution-focused pondering/mirroring... i learn by doing, and (only) what i find makes sense to me. i share... whatever is there to be shared, at any given moment. maybe we end up playing together! :D
