About Me

ABOUT ME

I´m 38 years-old and live in Montevideo with my husband and my son. I´m quite curious and active. I love the unexpected.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The thing I love most doing is travelling.
And for me travelling is not about sightseeing and take pictures of magnificent monuments or spectacular landscapes.
I think that travelling is the best way you have to open your mind and understand more about the world and about yourself.
Couchsurfing lets you meet interesting people, know new cultures, new ways of thinking and feeling, and share incredible experiences.
I stayed in many houses and met lots of friendly people, with whom I shared great moments and very interesting talks.

Interests

I´ve studied industrial design and marketing and since many years ago I´ve been working in the textile industry.
My dream is working in rural communities developing traditional craftworks and textiles projects - but that´s a bit difficult in my country, where there isn´t traditional artwork :-( -

I´m specially concerned about responsible consumption, fair trade and non traditional education.

I´m keen on photography, I practice yoga and I love riding horses.
And I also have a big list of things that I enjoy doing (despite of often I don´t have too much time to do them) as cooking, reading, walking in street markets, putting together jigsaw puzzles, biking, embroidering and a big etcetera.

I enjoy a lot quite places, nature and simple life.

And I dream to travel to India.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC
I don´t like “reggae” as a genre, but I listen Bob Marley since I was 11 years.
I also like grunge and alternative rock (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Morphine, Live, The Cure, The Cash, REM, Talking Heads, Mano Negra)
Brazilian rock, bossa nova and samba (Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, Titas, Jorge Ben Jor, Rita Lee, Cassia Eler, Marisa Monte, Chico Cesar, Cartola, Bezerra da Silva)
And many other things that I cannot classify: Trigve Seim, Fela Kuti, Cesaria Evora, Chavela Vargas, Lhasa de Sela, Lila Downs, Concha Buika, Ismael Lo.

MOVIES
Almodovar, Wes Anderson, Luc Besson, Tarantino, Kim Ki Duk, Akira Kurosawa

BOOKS
Recently I´ve been reading historic novels (Noah Gordon, Ken Follet, Patrik Suskin, Umberto Eco)
I also like Haruki Murakami, Hening Mankell, Garcia Marquez, Vargas Llosa, Charles Bukowsky, Dominique Lapierre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve spent one day in high seas in a small fishing boat, with 3 more friends, sleeping in the deck under the stars and keeping watch to drive it.
It was supposed to be only a short trip to raise the fishing nets, but plans changed and we decided to spend the night there, so we hadn´t warm clothes or food.
We stayed more than 24 hours, drinking “mate” and eating fresh fish that we cooked in a portable gas stove.
We swam between seagulls and sea lions, and sunset and sunrise alone in high seas was an experience that I cannot explain with words.

Teach, Learn, Share

Many things to learn... from a new language to a new recipe.
Many things also to share specially good talks and good wine.
