About Me

** With a changed life situation, I have not been an active CS member for a few years now. Every once in a while I log in, remembering all my great CS experiences (one of which was meeting my husband with whom I now even have a daughter with) that I have had with Couchsurfing among the years I was an active member. I am not updating my profile actively so it might contain some old information that is no longer accurate and I apologize for that.

I am very grateful for the community and having met so many wonderful people through CS. Hugs and love to all fellow CS members s a key word. I love people with a good head on their shoulders and am always interested in meeting new people that share the same values I do. Insincere or dishonest people are not really my cup of tea.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent year 2004 studying abroad and in May was co-hosting a trip to Finland with another Finnish friend for 20 exchange students from all over the world.
We all accommodated on our friends' couches in Helsinki and had great fun! I was happy to discover CS soon after that.

A more official beginning of my history with CS was January 2006 when I travelled to Prague for a long weekend with my sister Anu*. Enjoyed my stay a lot, mostly thanks to the wonderful CS people I met!!

Since the early days, I've had lots and lots of great moments with the people I've met through CS and also gained many new friends around the world.. Looking forward to new adventures and meeting new friends that share the same mindset!

Interests

I enjoy... Cultures&languages, art&design, crafts, rhythm music, visiting concerts, hanging out, running, reading, baking, biking, researching random stuff online, swimming, singing, playing piano, travelling, DIYing, networking, thinking, dreaming..

Music, Movies, and Books

Can you list your favourites? I can't! The list would most likely end up being too long.. However, descriptions should as well serve the purpose:

Film: I love Spanish and South American movies - I guess it's mostly to do with the culture and language. The Finnish film - unknown to most foreigners - is also worth exploring, at least some titles.

Music: I tend to say I'm a fan of any music expect heavy metal and radio pop.. But what catches my ear the best is something mellow&melancholic like Portishead as well as amazing female singers such as Alice Russell, rhythm music/ritmos latinos (cumbia!!) or any groovy stuff with soul&character, such as Belleruche or Curtis Mayfield to name but a few..

Books: I actually get paid for reading magazines and newspapers and do love knowing what's going on in the surrounding world but besides that I enjoy a lot of travel stories or books that make me forget time and take me to another world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I consider finding myself and learning who I truly am and what I want to do as well as being able to work to pursue these objectives some of the greatest accomplishments I can do in my life. However, I guess it's a never-ending process..

Apart from that, one of the most amazing things I've ever experienced was seeing Portishead live in Paris in 2009. Another cool experience was a Massive Attack concert in Finland in summer 2010!

Teach, Learn, Share

Music lovers and good chefs are definitely welcome!

In return, I can tell you how to speak Finnish, fix stuff, bake.. Or we can just have a cider together, no pressure of teaching/learning.
