A broad interest in life. in my free time i like to do sports, listen to music, play on my guitar, go out with friends, read or just enjoy life.

PHILOSOPHY

I guess it finally all comes down to just being happy and having fun in whatever way. Being able to laugh in all situations is important for me. In life being open-minded and being able to be fascinated by the ordinary, and to enjoy the daily is what can make life beautiful. And without debts, there are no peaks... is also always good to remember.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As mentioned before im attracted by the philosophy of CS, now lets see how it works in practice. the idea of meeting travelling and local people from all over the world is always interesting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well im just new here, so not any CS'ing experience with CS'ers. ofcourse i hosted friends and people like that, but that doesn't count i assume :). I do have a friend who travelled to America and had good experiences with surfing couches.

Music (really important!): see my music profile on last.fm (http://www.last.fm/user/MauriceDeGraaf). some most played artists by me are royksopp, radiohead, the doors, trentemoller, metallica, the boxer rebellion, kings of convenience, the cinematics, the whitest boy alive and editors. as you can see i have a really diverse interest...
Books: right now im reading 'guns, germs and steel' (by Jared Diamond) and is absolutely fantastic! i recommend it to anyone with a broad interest, it take you through the history of mankind and explains why the world today is how it is.

i think my month in Africa was really special. i visited a few countries in southern Africa during the trip, but it was all really amazing, as i saw it somewhere stated: 'Africa is not something you can see, hear or touch, but it is more a feeling'. I cant remember exactly how it was stated but it was something like that, but i totally agreed with it. Experience the great continent!

haha the CouchSurfing University! how great! fantastic idea :). ofcourse i would like to make my contribution. i can maybe teach a few guitar techniques and i have a music database to share and listen to. and of course my profession is the field of health, so i can always share a thing or two about that. and if i see some tourists riding the bike in the city of Amsterdam.... they sure can use a lesson how to ride the bike in the city haha!
