Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love to meet new people, and I'm always travelling.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have a few friends who either host or travel through CS and have heard nothing but great things about both sides of the experience. Hopefully I'll have something great to relay here soon!
Interests
These are the things that make me happy: forming alliances for the greater good, surrounding myself with all manner of creative people, organizing and promoting music and art events, doing yoga with the sunrise, fiddling with electronics, writing prolifically about things like food or traveling or politics, traveling solo... and understanding the way people around me live and think and breathe and what inspires them to walk on this planet. I am also a news junkie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Back in my journalism days I wrote a story on the Hawaii Wildlife Fund. They are a Maui based organization that works to preserve endangered turtles that live in Hawaii's oceans. As part of the research for the story, I camped out next to a turtle nest on a beach with some volunteers and a biologist. One night I was fortunate enough to witness three baby turtles hatch. The biologist asked me to help one of them find the ocean, which I did by following it down the beach on my hands and knees. I had to get my face a mere few inches from the turtle on account of the fact that there was barely enough light to see what was going on (it was new moon). The little guy made it into the ocean and swam away. I still wonder if he (she?) survived.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love to cook and am always happy to share my knowledge or learn new techniques. I've also taught English in small group settings and tutored people in writing.
