Overview
About Me
My name is Miranda, I'm 36 and living in Columbus, OH. I have an adorable dog named Caroline who I befriended in the Dominican Republic ten years ago and she has been my trusty companion ever since. Unfortunately I'm not currently in a position to host but hoping that changes soon as I love meeting new people and sharing travel stories over some good food and drinks.
I am a very optimistic and positive person by nature. I believe in kindness, and love, and finding strength in community with our neighbors. I think beauty exists in the connection we humans share in ourselves and the world around us and believe we can learn so much from each other. I care a great deal about people and think that this world would be a much better place if we truly put others before ourselves.
I LOVE being outside and spent much of this past winter in a tent trying my hand at winter camping. It was freezing and wet and uncomfortable and positively the best time ever.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I found this site over ten years ago and have met the most amazing people ever. Whenever I'm blessing with the opportunity to travel, I find it so incredible to be able to spend time with other humans who can share different philosophies, world views, and experiences. What a gift it is to share our journeys in this crazy life!
Interests
I'm a singer-songwriter and love playing and listening to all kinds of music. I am just as comfortable outside in inclement weather as I am in a warm, cozy room. Maybe even more so. :) I love exploring and engaging in thoughtful discussions with other human beings. We generally have a lot of interesting things to say and share if you really listen.

Music, Movies, and Books
I will listen to any type of music! I don't watch many movies but I am a huge Star Wars nerd. I'm really into psychology and neuroscience and love learning.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Most of my amazing experiences involve animal encounters. Diving with sharks, free handing venomous snakes, and making friends with tapirs are a few...
Teach, Learn, Share
I am open to learning anything and everything! I can teach you about reptiles and amphibians. I can share my love of music and songwriting, and a few strums on a guitar here and there. I can talk for hours about magic mushrooms, the Wim Hof method, the human condition, and survival skills/zombie apocalypse plans.
I'm also a master at Star Wars trivia and this past winter I got pretty good at making fires in wet conditions.
