Hello :)

I'm currently an English Teacher in Japan, but my work up until I moved to Japan was based around music; piano teacher, accompanist, pianist, ensemble coaching and production assistant.

I moved back to Japan to rediscover and reconnect to my roots, so I'm hoping to do as much travelling around Japan as possible. Beyond that, my next project is travelling overland from South East Asia to Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel like the best part of travelling is when you get to know the people; you soak up a deeper sense of the culture and their philosophies, rather than just floating past facades of tourist gimmicks. You also start to understand the vastness of the human experience, yet paradoxically how similar we all are.

Interests

My three great loves are music, food and travel. I love them all equally that I couldn't rank them. In addition, I love yoga and meditation, dancing (salsa, swing, and hula hooping), taiko drumming, and I enjoy learning about traditional medicine and healing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't tend to have favourites as I enjoy a variety and pick depending on how I'm feeling, but here's a few that come up regularly:

Music; swing music, big band jazz, Ravel and Debussy String Quartets, Lior, The Black Keys, Steely Dan.

Movies; The Intouchables, Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries (TV), Black Books (TV)

Books; Sherlock Holmes series, Poirot series, Harry Potter, Kite Runner, travel writing, and cook books.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to cook, or rather, I love to share food with people so I would love to get in your kitchen :)

Also, if you have a piano around and you don't mind me playing it, let me know so I can bring some music with me (unfortunately I don't memorise music unless it's for a performance...)
