About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Making the strange familiar, spending more time in nature/the sun/the ocean, building a global community, working on strengthening my mind/body connection and healing skills, and reminding myself that I am a self sufficient badass through travel :)

ABOUT ME

Do me a favor; if you write to me, say more than “Hi Miri” or “Hey” or “What’s up.” I just want to know that you have a personality, so maybe send me a message that conveys that?

ALSO! MEN: Pleeeeeeeease do me a favor and DO NOT hit on me! JUST PLEASE DON’T. JUST. DON’T. PLEASE. THANK YOU.

One of my favorite things in the world is the feeling that I've disappeared from the map. Nowadays, GPS and wifi make that harder, but I believe it is still possible to capture this feeling. I deeply enjoy finding myself in novel environments, with the sounds of new languages in my ears, and connecting with people of other cultures both for the cultural exchange, and the commonalities we share as humans that transcend our cultural differences. I really enjoy making people laugh. I love nature, especially being warm and in/close to the ocean. I'm laid back, friendly, open minded, easy to be around and easy to talk to. I won't do well with people who can't hold a conversation; I like to connect and I like to go deep.

At this point in my life, I find simplicity more fulfilling than complexity; I enjoy sitting on the beach or in the mountains with some fruit and a spliff and my journal, or being in the home hanging out together talking about our experiences, or having a shared outing to a coffee shop, for example. I can do things like this for hours and be happy. I prefer it to, for example, hitting all the bars and clubs on a weekend, or seeing every tourist thing in the area.

(Don’t get me wrong; I love a good party. But my standards for a good party are high.)

I have been living in the countryside in Oregon with some friends for the last 7 years on a small homestead on some land. Living in community, eating from the garden, and sharing collaborative projects has been incredible, but I'm ready to nomad around some more and I’ve got to heed the call.

PHILOSOPHY

We've got a limited amount of time on Earth and an obligation to cultivate joy with our lives. For me, traveling is how I use my life wisely to experience everything I can and build a global community. I believe in live and let live. Be kind. Try to be understanding. Do no harm. Leave the nest. Treat the earth right, consider the consequences of your choices. Above all, live for happiness and self fulfillment, and service to the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Making meaningful connections and lasting friendships through the generosity of hosting, cultural exchanges, and shared adventures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been couchsurfing with a few hosts in a few countries now, and I've encountered so much beauty and generosity and so many amazing people. People's generosity is incredibly inspiring.

Interests

I love swimming in the ocean, walking through the forest, climbing mountains, rolling down hills, and hanging out with animals. I like going on adventures and instant photography excursions, dancing under the stars, meeting new people, making new friends. I love dark and dry sense of humors. I love psychology, massage, yoga, the body, and anything having to do with the mind/body connection. I am a bit of a scifi nerd. I love permaculture, organic living, growing food, and foraging. Traveling and interacting with people from other cultures is how I access my flow state.

Other things I enjoy are: Coconuts, picking wild fruit, being warm, the sun on my skin, riding on the back of a scooter, good music, occasional psychedelics, making functional art from repurposed materials, silk, wool, Indian textiles, Moroccan tilework, tastefully decorated spaces, dressing up, playing backgammon, sarcasm, wordplay, banter, providing emotional support, house plants, Sufi poetry, walking long distances, and adventures with like minded souls.

I've realized my profile mentions nature multiple times and I just want to say: cities are cool sometimes too.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Saw a UFO on a deserted beach in Mexico.

Made a telepathic connection with a black labrador who only spoke spanish.

Woke up to Sunrise in Sinai over the Saudi Arabian mountains across the Red Sea.

Been cleaned by a school of fish in the Gulf of Thailand.

Painted across a language barrier with a retired soldier turned artist in the blue city of Chefchaouen :)

Helped some nomad women harvest and sort dates in an oasis in Morocco

Teach, Learn, Share

My favorite kinds of sharing are: jokes, laughs, adventures, long talks about life, the nature of existence, why things and people are the way they are, revelations about growing up.

If we are sharing adventures I am happy to share costs, and if you are generously hosting me I am happy to take you out to dinner/lunch/breakfast/coffee, whatever.

I can teach you some Hebrew, a little bit of Greek/Arabic. I can help with gardening or foraging.

I would love to learn more Spanish, Greek, Arabic, Thai, Hindi. Also what your city is REALLY like outside of the tourist area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will happily take you out for a meal to say thank you for hosting me, my standard offering for a generous host.

I can also:

- help clean up.
- make breakfast.
- make you laugh.

I am happy and enthusiastic to travel together if we get along. You can show me your city/country or we can discover something new together.
