About Me
Hi! My name is Miriam and I love to meet new people. I've lived in Missouri, USA my whole life, and I recently graduated from Drury University with a Bachelor's of Science in ACS Chemistry. I'm hoping to go to graduate school this fall for biochemistry, and I one day hope to be a professor leading a lab studying immunology. Science and traveling are my two biggest passions, and in my free time I love to hike, bike, cook, kayak, read books, and play with my Australian Kelpie pup, Sadie. My most favorite places I've visited are Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, USA, Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada, and Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, USA.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
One of my favorite parts of traveling is meeting new people and learning about their city from their point of view. Of all the places I've traveled to, the best recommendations and tips on seeing the city have come from locals, and I've really enjoyed meeting people from different areas of the world this way.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love many different genres of music, but my favorites are Michael Buble, The Beatles, Fleet Foxes, Glass Animals, and Lizzo. My favorite movies are The Theory of Everything, Finding Nemo, and all of the Harry Potter movies. My favorite books are also the Harry Potter books (I can't read them enough), anything I can try to understand by Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and the occasional John Greene book if I'm feeling sappy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A couple years ago I went skydiving, and it was by far the most terrifying and amazing thing I've ever done. There's no way to describe the feeling of plummeting toward the ground from an airplane, but it's definitely something I think everyone should try at least once. I can't wait to go again! I also adopted my pup Sadie two years ago, and it has been the most rewarding thing I've ever done. Sadie is my adventure partner, and is always down for a long hike and a cuddle afterwards.
Teach, Learn, Share
I've worked as a hospital aid and a phlebotomist for the past three years, and in doing so I am certified in first aid and basic life support (CPR). I also love to cook. My family is of Japanese and Thai descent, so I've learned how to make traditional dishes from my two grandmas which I would love to share with you! I'd also love to learn how to cook some of your favorite traditional dishes. I can also teach english and (some) biology and chemistry courses!
