I have been robbed in 3 different countries, gotten food poisoning too many times to count, and once accidentally ordered "penis soup" in Spanish (oops.) When I travel somewhere, it's almost always because I've done a lot of research on the country and am really passionate about understanding its history, culture, and politics. I want to understand things from the perspective of people that live there, not just journalists and teachers.

Couchsurfing has had a profound impact on not just the way that I travel, but also on the way that I learn about different cultures, process global events, and engage with people of varied backgrounds.

I have been shown so much kindness by couchsurfing hosts, and now that I have my own place, I would like to give back by hosting when possible.
