About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live it.

ABOUT ME

I am loud, and I tend to hum or sing wherever I am whether that be on the stage or in the doctor's waiting room.

I am very friendly and talkative, sometimes to the horror of my friends who wonder why it's necessary for me to find out everything I can about our cab driver at 3 in the morning. I'm a professional singer, so as a result have worked a variety of unsavoury jobs to support the starving arts - inc. check-out chick, bakery attendant, nanny, and gondolier (yes that's right, I rowed a gondola and pretended to be Italian).

I love my friends and family and I also love meeting new people from all around the world.

I am currently on the trip of my dreams, moving around the world with the goal of studying music in different countries and learning fluent Spanish and Arabic.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't eat to live, live to eat. Find a reason to smile and laugh whenever you can, life becomes a whole lot more fun! Don't let your passions fade away in the corporate grind. And always make time for the great people around you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I can, surf with people, and meet up with couchsurfers who pique my curiosity. That's the beauty of couchsurfing, you can participate in whatever way you are able to.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing has changed the way I travel. My focus used to be the places. Now it is by far the people. My first experience alone was like making a new sister. I find because it takes a certain openness of mind and heart to both host and surf with a "stranger" you end up connecting to people who are generally very compatible - whatever your backgrounds or ideologies. Most of my experiences have made me friends I know I will see again and again. Someone give cs a peace prize already!!!

Interests

I am passionate about a lot of things in life, and my shortlist would be:

Music, People, Food, Travelling, Sleeping, Films, Books, seeing live performances of anything and everything - I like going to see something without any expectations or even knowledge of what/who/when/where, and yes I do have a slight penchant for clothes, especially the cheap and old variety - you call it vintage, I call it pretentious.

I am a better eater than cooker. The mere fact that I used the word "cooker" is indicative of my culinary skills.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music I love is really everything. Life, to me, is more like an iTunes playlist on shuffle than a box of chocolates. In my world it all co-exists very happily, from world music - latin, tango, gypsy, to jazz, pop, rock, and artists like jacques brel and mercedes sosa, the weird and wonderful worlds of Kate Bush and Grace Jones, and getting down to the funkalicious sounds of Prince, to capping off the night with a cup of tea and some classical whatnot.

movies: Brokeback Mountain, Lust, Caution, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Godfather, plus all the children comedies like Mrs Doubtfire, Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Annie.
I'm also CRAZY for good comedies shows, like Arrested Development, 30 Rock, Seinfeld, The Office, Community.
Breaking Bad, Mad Men.
Books: Love my period books. any Austen, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights. Also Lolita, The Blind Assassin, ANYTHING by Alice Munro.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My 4 1/2 month contract working in India as a hotel singer at 20 was pretty amazing. Surviving 8 months as a gondolier called "Sofia Lorenzo" in Asia's Las Vegas left me not so much awestruck as shell-shocked. Vipassana meditation in India was mind-changing.

I've seen some incredible places but nothing really compares to the magnificent people I've met on those travels, especially through couchsurfing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you singing, or a bit of piano and double bass. I love to share my library of music and stories with people.

I'm 25 and I guess only have myself, my experiences and random bits of knowledge I have acquired from my time on Earth.

I want to learn about people, from their experiences and their character. And a little more specifically I would also love to learn Spanish and just find out about different cultural traditions relating to society and music etc.
