About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Enjoying Montreal, meeting people, studying, doing sports.
ABOUT ME
I am this often terribly shy earthling who's actually afraid of everything but spent 1.5 years in Beijing (thought I'd die the moment I embarked on the plane), walked more than 500miles on the Way of St. James through Switzerland and Northern Spain (on foot), lived as a herdsman for a few weeks and sings her own songs in front of other people.
I embarked on a journey around the world in 2012 to discover microfinance and social entrepreneurship. I see them both as a solution to the downturns of our overly capitalist (in other words overly greedy) system. As Lao Zi said: "Every journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". Well, I actually fell in love with Montreal and decided to stay instead of heading on to Peru, Argentina and China.
PHILOSOPHY
Life is like a path. It goes in ups and downs, you have to change directions many times, decide which turn to take and it ends somewhere. You walk it for the sake of walking. And you have to do it in your own pace. One step at a time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
At the moment living in Montreal and occasionally meeting people from Couchsurfing.
I originally wanted to go improve all of my languages, get to know other people and (working) cultures, learn about microfinance, poverty, entrepreneurship and alternative lifestyles. Those things are still on my bucket list, but I plan on meandering the world from this lovely city! :-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Great up to now. Looking forward to meeting many more interesting people in Montreal. I am into hiking, jogging or just discovering everything this city has to offer.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am just reading "Banker for the poor" by Muhammad Yunus. I absolutely love the idea of microcredits to help poor people work their way out of poverty!
The next book will be "Social Business" by the same author.
And I love Lord of the Rings, The Pillars of the Earth and all the other historical novels.
In terms of music: too much to mention them all. I love world music (Susheela Raman, Prinzecito, Mayra Andrade, Miriam Makeba, Maatibaani and many more), folkpop (Cara Dillon, Julie Fowlies and more), rock, sometimes even electronic music.
In terms of movies I love un cuento chino, road to perdition, saint ralph and many more. My latest addition is "The life of Pi". An absolute must-see!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Walking the Way of St. James in Northern Spain was just an amazing experience!
