Why I’m on Couchsurfing

On my last trip to Barcelona I decided to not stay in a hotel, but rather stay with a friend in her house. I am generally a bit shy, so normally I opt for a private room somewhere, but I realised in this instance that it's much nicer to meet some locals and hear their life stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kinds of music, but I tend to go back to Italian pop/rap music. However, I also enjoy heavy metal, rock and even classical music, totally depending on my mood.

My taste in movies is a bit less wide, I enjoy mostly psychological thrillers, with favourites being Shutter Island, Inception and Identity. Alternatively pretty much anything with Leonardo DiCaprio, Gerard Butler or Tom Hardy in it will be fine. I also love the Saw series, I think its storyline is greatly underrated.

My favourite books currently are the Night Watch series by Sergey Lukyanenko, as well as Blindness by José Saramago and of course the Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to Ireland by myself to work for a family I never met when I was 18. Before this I had never even been on a plane, or on family holidays outside my own country. I had made exactly 3 trips abroad which were school trips to France, London and Rome, and they were all by bus.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Even though I don't consider my mother tongue very nice or useful, I can teach my hosts a bit of Dutch.

I don't really have great transferable skills, but I am great with Excel so if you're really interested in learning something weird from a guest, I can teach some formulas, haha.

Alternatively I am full of useless (semi-fun) facts you may one day use to impress your friends; did you know that when you're 'biting down' on something you're actually biting up, as our upper jaws don't move?
