About Me
Hey out there!
I am signed up on this page now for years - as I noticed now... I never used this account but now everything will change. :D
I live in beautiful Hamburg for one and half years now, doing the best job for me in the world and enjoying life here.
I am a laid-back and tolerant person. I like to talk about everything, mostly about people and why life is like this or that. I enjoy having time for sitting down and eating an drinking wine, beer or whiskey. I could do this for hours. I enjoy Irish pubs and Irish music. I also like to go for long walks through the city or the nature and I love to explore new areas.
I can be lazy sometimes and I can be very, very active on other times. It depends a lot on the question if I like what I do. For example if I do a job I enjoy I will do it with all my heart. If I am on a boring party, I will prefer to go home and sleep. I like my sleep. :) I am more an early bird, due to my job.
I am shy with new people sometimes, but when I warm up, I will laugh a lot and take things easy. I don't like bossy people - then I can become cold and distanced.
I live in a very multicultural area close to the river Elbe and quite central. I love the Turkish cookies of the shop down my street. :D
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to meet new people and to understand, how others see the world. I am very interested in new stuff and new ideas! When I travel, I am much more interested in the culture, in the people than into sight seeing.
If you visit me and it's a weekend I would be very happy to show you around Hamburg, if you want. If it is during the week I am mostly home at 3pm. I also have time to do things then, but sometimes I am busy.
Interests
I like to go out dancing tango argentino, salsa or ballroom/latin at the weekends - there are lots of nice dancing events here. I also love to go to the movies into the small cinemas with the good beers at the bar. I love drinking red wine with a good friend and playing poker in the bar - I didn't do this for a while now, because I don't know so many people in this city. (That's also a good reason for couch surfing!) I love all kind of cultural events, from exhibitions to poetry slams or cabaret. Since winter started I got a little lazy, but I love sport like climbing, ice or inline skating and swimming in lakes (in summer of course). There are good swimming lakes here around Hamburg. I love hiking with a tent, I love to be as close as possible to nature. I am always up to new ideas. I also like to go out partying once in a while, but I guess I am getting a little old with that already. Still doing it sometimes though and the Reeperbahn is a nice place, not for every weekend, but from time to time. When I am alone, I paint, I play my wonderful new piano or I pet my cats. :)

Music, Movies, and Books
I like slow movies that make me thing about people and life. I like to cry at movies, but I can't stand easy love or drama movies - they should go deeper. Fanny and Alexander, Pans Labyrinth, Apocalypse now and Spirited away are my favourite movies. With books I am not that picky and would often prefer something easy and exciting. I love Hemingway!
I like music, but I don't listen to it often. I play it on the piano (classical stuff) or I dance to it (tango for example)... Sometimes I also listen to it, I like Regina Spector and Mumford and Sons.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I think most of the best experiences of my life I had while working with people. I was volunteering many times and I always loved to work with children, the eldery or people with mental disabilities - they are not so stressed by everyday life, they watch and listen better - they also enjoy better sometimes! I love Turkey for it's wonderful people, so I think the best thing I have done lately was hiking the lycian way and getting offered tea and tasty food in a little village. :)
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to do things together, but sometimes I would enjoy exploring the surrounding by myself. I think it depends!
