About Me

Hiya, I'm Mirjam, German-Swiss, hiker-traveler, singer-songwriter (aspiring). Everywhere I go, people pronounce my name differently, which I have come to love. I also love red wine, dark beer, reading, writing, swimming in rivers, sleeping in night trains and tents, and playing card games (games and pub quizzes are the only thing where I get really competitive). I'm also a huge karaoke fan and go to concerts and music festivals as often as I can. l collect toothpaste, funny phrases and beautiful names from all countries I travel to. I'm curious about the world and passionate about social justice.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing offers the best possibility to really get to know a place and its people, and share great moments with them. It's how strangers can become friends in no time.

Interests

I'm interested in everything that has to do with people, relationships and psychology, calligraphy, street art, (improv) theatre, literature/poetry/songwriting, music, baking recipes ...

Music, Movies, and Books

I love songs with great melodies that just make you sing along. I mostly listen to women* singers and pop, indie and folk rock bands. I particularly like the fusion of folk and electronic music. At the moment my favourites include DakhaBrakha, Balaklava Blues, Jerry Heil, Go_A, Alina Pash, Kazka, Aigel, Sia, FLETCHER, M.I.A., Tove Lo, Björk, Florence + The Machine, Ibeyi, Agnes Obel, Kent, Muse, Linkin Park and The Verve.

I like all different kinds of movies, but high school movies are my guilty pleasure.

I mostly read short stories, cheesy romantic novels, feminist philosophy and books about Eastern European history and politics

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I love tie-dye and recently dyed my own shirts for the first time since kindergarten. It was so much fun!
