CURRENT MISSION
Live life full of new experiences not to regret at the end of the road that I haven't done something I wanted
ABOUT ME
Time to update this section a notch...
Who am I? Heh, tough question that is... A music freak I used to call myself. Well, usually you can see me with my earphones sticking out from my ears. On the occasions I can even talk with you about my favourite bands/songs and what their music means to me, but in the end... Can you really describe music with words? I think it's just better to sit down and listen to it. Or at least hear it playing in the background while having a hopefully meaningful conversation (or moaningsation).
If you haven't noticed by now (or maybe I haven't made it apparent enough yet), I like words, playing with them, picking on the meaning and use of them, inventing new ones, creating (terrible) punny (no, it's not a typeo) jokes and talking... A LOT! I'm probably one of the most talkative and seemingly outgoing introverts out there.
Some call me crazy, because I percive surrounding world slightly different, sometimes trying to defy its stupidity. Sometimes I maybe treat the world a bit as my private playground, doing things, because why the fudge not. But, please, mind I'm still an introvert, so there may be situations in which I will keep myself to myself.
I like talking about passions with passion and listening to people practicing the same. Asking unusual questions from time to time to shake the stiffness of the conversation a notch. Or just to amuse myself (a notch]:P) with (re)creating questions that are rarely asked.
DISCLAIMER: sometimes I represent some over the top and even radical points of view (I don't neccesarily support), teasing people or just trying to encourage thinking outside of the box. I'm also quite sarcastic and bitter at times. Back to the rest of my profile now, I guess...
I quite enjoy different physical acivities to ease my troubled mind, though may be not the most frequent performer. The most recently I sort of got hooked on (pun really not intended) climbing. Returning to gyming as well (slowly but surely). Running a bit (not as much as I used to do though). And, I believe, because of its physical component , I really enjoy shaking those cocktails behind the bar.
I love (cliche alert!) travelling, getting to know new people and trying new things. Good music, films and books. And art (not too artsy though, which means, in my opinion, for example majority of contemporary art). And questioning things... a lot.
I believe that everyone has right to be whoever they want to as long as they don't try to interfere with other's lives and I try to live according to the rule. That means that sometimes, when I feel someone is not following the rule I may be kind of aggressive and defensive. Well, world is not all sunshine and butterflies in the end and even the most open person should set and know their boundaries (not in meaning limitations, though recently I cope with mine).
PHILOSOPHY
Everyone is a little bit racist (sometimes)

I for example recycle. I'm also quite antireligious (NOT anti-god).
Everything tastes better with a pinch of ginger... and sometimes cinnamon as well ];) ... and sarcasm, don't forget about sarcasm.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To help travellers looking for stay and to find some help while travelling myself. Plus for those extra profits like exchanging stories and ideas.
To spread awerness AKA "making all those newbies turn their mostly shitty profiles into something acceptable" ]:P
FOR THE NEWBIES (Yes, that also includes you, mum. And I don't care, you don't speak English]:P)
OK, guys. this bit is quite a crucial one.
When we're discussing your possible stay at mine, I usually start with a "Maybe" That's how I work. After first one-two messages, I'll send you my phone number. It's vital, that you send me yours in return. I had one situation, in which the potential surfer called me without sending his number. Then I forgot to save his number and we couldn't communicate. Since I had a closing shift and it was Saturday, he couldn't get through to me. Plus I also had mistaken another unsaved number with his. Unfortunately it all ended with him not getting to mine. Let this be a lesson for you and me.
I recently hosted quite a few newbies. I know mine and your experience of this site will never be the same... But would like you to do one thing: look a bit beyond the possibility of a free accomodtion. At the end of the day, I'm also a real boy (I wonder who will get this reference]:P).
When I started, when sending a request you had 2 boxes to fill. 1st was supposed to contain a description of you and your trip and you could use it as an open request. In 2nd you specified, why you decided to write to this particular host. My challenge for you: try to establish, why me? Or other hosts (they are also real boys/girls), especially as now you have that limit of 10 requests per week.
Also: if you decide for another host, it's nice if you let other people know about it, rather than cut the contact. Especially, if we already accepted your request.
And, FOR GOODNESS' SAKE, take care of your profiles. Cause, as much as I like helping, why am I supposed to care, if another person doesn't? For now my personal prize for the worst, lamest profile goes to one Kacper, who put in his profile 6 words, not even in English, and completely blured, single picture, supposedly, of himself. Don't be like Kacper. Don't be THAT GUY/GAL.
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN
I hosted quite a bit in Manchester and found it being a beautiful experience (most of the time). I attended also some CS camps and meetings in MCR. Now back in Manchester (after a short flirt with London), finally hosting again. Sometimes in crazy quantities. But finally living on my own and having enough space to do so.
I have been a part of this community for a while now. Met some great people I'm still in contact with till this day. But I also support one idea you can find in my friend's profile: "sometimes it's an experience, sometimes: just a couch". I honestly believe that surfer should give a host some respect and it's nice when they can spend some time together. But let's be honest: everyone has their lives and plans and they can be just unable to arrange them around somebody else's.
The thing is: we DON'T HAVE TO become friends.People are different and everyone won't match everyone else's taste. Deal with it and stop being a self-righteous twat. This site is (or at least was) about helping people with their travelling. Yes, it's not nice to get a copy- paste request, but will your pride really hurt that much, if you accept the straying newcomer and explain them the entire situation either in a message or during conversation? Who will benefit from a rejected copy-paste request and from your "I bet they just treat me as a free hotel" attitude? I believe not even you];)
Actually in the beginning I was one of those people sending copy-paste requests. Until one of the journeys when I was unmasked by one potential host, who explained to me how it all works (according to her she also had an episode of being caught sending copy-pasting requests]XD). During the same trip I was actually accepted with the same copy-paste request,, by my dearest friends. Despite failing their verification test.
I also hosted some people I had little to no contact with. But it was ok, I helped someone with their travelling - achievement unlocked. Plus: what about people writing to you already on their way to your city, desperately trying to find someone to host and sending tons of quick requests? Didn't it happen to you? Cause it did to me.
And: yes, I know: since the last update I grew a tad more self-righteous. Still trying to keep the middle ground though and helping even those very lost ones. Sometimes, unfortunately, the only help, I can provide, is to write: "Rethink your approach to this community and your profile or maybe just go somewhere else. Cause if you show from the start, you don't give a fudge, why should I?"
