About Me

Former Chinese language and culture major. Killing time, teaching English in Southern China. Practicing yoga, the ukulele and vegetarianism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In the summer of 2012 me and my friend hitch-hiked through Western Europe, visiting Spain, France, Belgium, The Netherlands etc. Since our budget was tight, of course we decided to couchsurf. But we discovered that couchsurfing is so much more than just a free couch at a local's home. We got to meet the most wonderful hosts and couchsurfers. Some of them are still good friends of ours. It really proved that couchsurfers are all about sharing and caring, exchanging experiences and culture.

Later while travelling and living in Asia, I have realised that travelling as a tourist to another country for a week or two really doesn't give you the real impression of how things are done there. So many travellers get ripped off in Asian countries in so many ways they don't even realise it. So I always try to stay away from touristy places, hang out with the locals, eat the local food to try to absorb as much as possible from the real life of the country I'm currently in. Couchsurfing is absolutely perfect for such an experience!

Interests

I'm into Asian languages and culture, travelling, yoga, buddhism, Haruki Murakami, good food, good music, good laughs. Also geography and nature in general. Cracking jokes is also a hobby of mine, especially the odd ones with a few language puns here and there.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ate a lot of different intestines in The Glorious People's Republic of China. Got two weeks of stomach ache after that...

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a complete language freak! I love learning new languages and making connections between them. I could teach you Estonian, Chinese or some other language... or some basic yoga moves. I guess I have pretty mad skills in cooking but do not expect any traditional Estonian dishes from my side - I mostly cook Asian style vegan food :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Vegan food tips. Basic Chinese lessons. Basic Estonian lessons. Basic life lessons.

Countries I’ve Visited

Armenia, Austria, Belgium, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

China, Estonia
