About Me
CURRENT MISSION
learning to live as a semi-nomadic goat herder in the modern world.
ABOUT ME
i have a small herd of milking goats... right now two mamas and lots of medium sized ones but in may we may have a pretty large population explosion. they are nubians and have really good milk, strong personalities and loud voices. right now i am traveling a little though and they are in residence at the chataeu a la parents, where they are thouroughly enjoying being pregnant and eating lots of grass, leaves, and probably a little human sweater.
for the last couple of years i have been involved in organic agriculture; first as an apprentice at raphael garden in sacramento california where we had a biodynamic veggie CSA, lots of chickens, cows and sheep, then as the manager of a farmers market garden, the birthplace of my goat facination as there was good number of milking does there and i made a great deal of cheese!!
also, i love to cook. and would love to have a taco truck that served awesome food that could be parked somewhere where you could provide all your vegtables, dairy and meat from a lot behind it and in front have missmatched chairs, benches and tables where people could eat amazing-organic-nutritious-delicious-incredibly local-food amidst a renogade farm.
dreams. if they do not exist how can they come true?
Interests
my favorite things in life are planting vegtables and fruit trees, hiking to secret hot springs, milking my goats, finding free roosters on craigslist, drinking large jars of black tea in the mornings, making morracan goat tagine, making lots of fermented things like kimchee, beer, mead, knitting socks, raw dairy, petting cats, inventing new ideas, canning tomatoes, writing on typewriters, watching domestic turkeys try to figure out life...

Music, Movies, and Books
i love books about how to do things: you can learn how to sew a dress, make baked alaska, kill and dress a squirell, make calendula salve, set up an electric fence, keep some bees... those are the type of books i want to have a room filled with from floor to ceiling. also some others would be inthere: good books of interesting poetry, lots of strange and exotic cooking encyclipedias, beautifully written novels... i love everything printed.
and watching movies is fun. but they have to be good - i just watched half of this movie called mic max and loved it. and love foreign films - goodbye lennin, run lola run, sex and lucia, ammores perros, y tu mama tambien, city of god...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
due to a female calf being born to the farm i was living at in nepal we had to go on a pilgramage to 4 temples, and bring a duck along for sacrafice. it was a beautiful hike through hills, towns and rivers, all of us enjoying the scenery and getting winded on the steep climbs (including the duck, as it didn't like my tight hold of its precious and sacred flesh). The local folks laughed at the our procession: a farm worker, me, 3 kids and a duck with its head covered in red cerimonial powder.
