About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become an effective, impassioned, empowered, skillfull agent of change. To deepen my dialogue-process, facilitation, and analytical skills. To strengthen my voice. To see clearly. To understand. To be of benefit and make a good living doing it.

ABOUT ME

I am a caring, mindful and open-minded woman. I enjoy being helpful, and when staying with others I love to help out with dishes, cooking, gardening etc. I love playing with kids, pets, people of all ages! I particularly love board games. I am energetic and enjoy spontaneity, adventure, and being social; and I also need time to rejuvenate in quiet solitude, reading, or doing some form of movement.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have used couchsurfing, and hosted, only a handful of times, and I find it a brilliant creation. It is fantastic that it makes the world smaller by making it more human, friendly, approachable.

Interests

I am interested in the world and how we are going to get ourselves out of this cultural and ecological pickle. I love studying all things related to getting us out of this pickle. My interests range from spirituality and my own inner work; to back-to-the-land skills like gardening, food preservation, herbalism, hearty healthy home cooking, alternative building styles, and do-it-yourself skills; to mediation, collaborative-decision-making, and cooperative living skills; to legal and academic skills for working on behalf of indigenous peoples, and really, probably any environmental/social justice issue.
For the last few years I mostly focused on working with my hands and heart - baking, gardening, making delicious espresso, and home-making. In 2010 I entered into a different phase, feeling the quickening of energy that wanted to return to rigorous studies and begin my career path. I loved diving into the grounding work/studies of the earth and the kitchen, but I also felt that I wasn't really using all I had to give. Now I am so excited to have just completed the Masters in Environmental Law and Policy at Vermont Law School. Here I focused on natural resource policy and law, and conflict resolution and facilitation skills. I loved diving into academic rigor while also seeking out answers to questions in my heart such as: How are we going to get out of this mess and transition to the world we want? What action(s) will truly make durable change a reality fast enough?
I am about to embark on answering some of these questions by working as an Emergency Management Planner for the state of Vermont. I will be helping Vermont's towns work together and with other state agencies to make meaningful decisions for hazard mitigation, ranging from human induced ones to natural disasters...including preparing for and aiming to prevent climate change.
