ABOUT ME

I'm originally from out in the countryside beside Loch Ness in the North of Scotland, though now live in Glasgow. I work as a musical instrument maker, though have also been a touring musician and a cycle courier and farm hand in my time. I love travelling, meeting people, taking photos, writing and am getting into making films - always searching out the interesting places off the beaten path - be it in cities or in the wilderness. Through photoraphy, film and media I follow what's happening in the world - sometimes travelling to trouble spots to find out more. I tend to do less of the normal things (like football and watching the TV) but like the wild and creative things people get up to. My friends are an eclectic bunch of people being all-sorts from musicians to doctors. I'm a big fan of music and going to gigs and clubs, though I do a lot less of that than I used to (including drinking a lot less!). When not working on music or photography stuff I spend time camping, climbing and canoeing in the sea, rivers and mountains - although am a fan of doing most sports. If I've been couped up inside for too long I can get a bit silly! [the 'cabin fever' gets me] though in a harmless way.

PHILOSOPHY

There's little point in 'life'. All we can do is appreciate how truly amazing the world is, and with it the experiences we can have in it. We should be grateful and humble in it's presence and though as individuals we may be a tiny and seemingly inconsequential part of it - grains of sand on a beach so-to-speak - through our actions we can make it easier for others to appreciate just how incredible an a thing it is that we're here, as not everyone gets that opportunity.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I toured far and wide with a band in the naughties and made several albums. I've been to Africa a few times, witnessed and photographed independence of south sudan, the Ukrainan protests and the aftermath of typhoon haiyan and written a book about one of the trips through West africa (and donated the proceeds to a worthy cause). Also made several short films on a variety of subjects from open heart surgery to ambient electronic music. I started a business making musical instruments which I continue to sell.
