About Me

exploring various states of balance between acting/being...the play (or Lila) of life...
to do or to be? doobee doo, be doo
.....discovering ways to integrate deeper personal senses, visions, intuitive dreams/desires (the artistic sense) within real world contexts of urban neighbourhood community development....hosting creative spaces, events for people to self organise, imagine, discover and co-create through dialogue, storytelling or simply through movement....

I am interested in how we each perceive, best learn, communicate and collaborate (create) as individuals and groups across various social structures and classes. I'm doing ongoing research in language, dialogue, story creation, social media, public space, urban communities, civic engagement, citizenship and democracy (local power that grows from locally connected and sustainable neighbourhoods and community groups).
I first really got creative with community organising in the US Pacific Northwest, starting a neighborhood media/storytelling project in the inner city of Seattle and since then carried on to evolve what i do in whatever situation i find myself...not bound by location.
To me this work is about discovering and asking (myself and others around) the questions that need to be asked, slowly building critical mass in very emergent and self organised ways. It sometimes works and other times not (which may be about timing). In all it might be about telling a story, somehow convening a conversation but just as well may be about taking some sort of action...which is where things really get creative...

I do occasionally travel to stay in touch with family and friends in other parts of the world, meet with other social innovators, entrepreneurs and improvisors to exchange ideas and work on projects...

I'm up for jamming, co-creating, performing with all kinds of improvisors (movement/dance/spoken word/theatre, music) who are open to it.....

I occasionally do say something on a blog here http://improvisingdemocracy.blogspot.com but rather more active here https://twitter.com/cuixote even here https://www.instagram.com/cuixote/

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

a way to travel, to live and be spontaneous around people, create opportunities for the unexpected and least expected...

The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself. ~ Alan Alda

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift. ~ Albert Einstein:
