About Me
UPDATE: I haven’t used couchsurfing in years and then was reminded by an old friend that it’s a good way to meet people while traveling. I’m currently living in Wiesbaden and doing small trips from time to time around various places in Europe.
ABOUT ME
Most people would probably say I'm very calm and collected, but I tend to keep my emotions to myself. Some might also say I'm shy but this is simply not true. I like to observe others and I tend to sit back and let others do the talking in a big group. But, once I warm up to you, I can be quite talkative. I'm also very soft-hearted, at times and can be moved by the simplest things. The other day I saw a very old woman with her daughter holding hands and it almost made me cry, it was so cute. I have the mouth of a sailor, I could probably use to improve my vocabulary. :) I love to laugh and I will usually choose a comedy over drama. A good sense of humor is important to me. I don't watch much TV, but the Simpsons and the Daily Show are at the top of my list. And...I love dogs, the bigger the better, but I like the little ones too, I don't discriminate. And when it comes to emails and writing I tend to ramble, as is evident from this profile entry.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Throughout my travels in Asia I did a little bit of surfing from time to time, but mostly I enjoyed using it for the social outlet. Even if I didn't surf I would try to meet up with people for drinks or coffee and I met some really interesting, helpful and friendly people. It was good fun!
As for hosting, I haven't been able to do much. While living in Japan my boyfriend would host his small apartment and stay at mine and we'd usually have parties on the roof of my place, so it was sort of a co-hosting experience.
Interests
Music....really love music: old-school/underground hip-hop, electronic, classic rock to name a few. I enjoy reading from time to time, my most recent book was Catch-22. I appreciate good photography and making (very amateur) attempts at capturing a good photo. I've been practicing yoga for about a year now and I'd like to learn more. I love anything outdoors such as hiking, camping and a little backpacking. I Love to ski, I really appreciate good powder and I'm a bit snobbish about snow...but that doesn't mean I'm good! Nevertheless, I like to try. I have recently really started to get into cycling...traveling by bike is fantastic; not too fast, not too slow...and the downhill bits make all the hard work worth it! I enjoy teaching English grammar, I'm a bit of a nerd that way. I like to dabble in creative writing, but I don't have much talent in it. Ever since I was young I have always wanted to see the world. It's so great to be making a dream come true.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I did a 12-day trek through the Everest Region in Nepal and reached 5545 meters, hard work and all completely worth it! I've backpacked 20 miles through the Wind River Mountains in Wyoming, I've cycled 90 km in one day (very proud of that, a year ago I would have never thought it possible.) Strange and crazy experience: I braved it and went to a sex show in Amsterdam. (I wouldn't classify it as amazing, however!) I volunteered to walk a dog named Carmen for a year in San Francisco. She was a sweetie and we got to see some amazing views of the city together.
