ABOUT ME

I love to travel and haven't done enough of it yet. I live in Indianapolis because it's an inexpensive place to finish school and save money for traveling. After that, who knows?!
I love WWOOF and intend to volunteer my way across the world someday (someday soon(!) I also adore coffee and have worked on and off as a barista since I was just a youngin'. I pour a mean cappucino. I would love it if I could someday combine my devotion to organic farm practices with helping to develop a more sustainable coffee world. This would, of course, bring me closer in proximity to beaches than Indiana can offer =)
I try to run a silkscreening business out of my basement but can't keep up. I love Etsy! It is my other internet addiction.
I love learning about how we can be more friendly towards the environment. I also love to cook and eat, to learn about farming in other societies and to make and build a wide assortment of things!

Interests

I love to read and write and dream. More than anything I like to learn.
I like architecture, history, ancient civilizations, astronomy, languages, geology...
Two words I really like are- discombobulated & galavant. My favorite literary devices are- alliteration and apostrphe.

I am an avid gardener and love farmers and being more friendly towards the earth. Ultimately, I want to live simply and work hard, when I forget this I must remember how good the world has been to me
I love bike riding, and watching movies. I love to knit and spin yarn and sew and make things. I love conversation and learning new things. I like taking yoga. I like kombucha. I like refinishing old wood furniture. I like handmade soap. I like taking pictures. I love live music. I love scratchy old jazz records. I like to play board games (esp. scrabble or Balderdash, but anything goes!) I love a good thrift store. I like to laugh. I can't wait to be a museum pilgram, but I also like a good long hike.
I am a person of moments, and find myself enjoying just about everything I do-- I find this to be my biggest asset =)

I can also gravitate towards all types of NYT best sellers (which I usually consider guilty pleasure reading) I loved Michael Pollan's An Omnivore's Dilemma and also became smitten with Eat, Pray, Love.

Music, any and all, I get a lot of NPR in my life, and there are always my old stand-bys. Modest Mouse, Pedro the Lion, Nickelcreek, Radiohead, The Frames, Damien Rice, Moldy Peaches, Aimee Mann, Devendra Banhart, Iron and Wine, Mountain Goats, Joanna Newsome, The Shins

a roommate once managed the Indie cinema in town so I saw all sorts of good movies, but I'm usually the person who hasn't seen the cult classic that everyone insists I need to see. I run out of time for movies. I like documentaries and art-house films, but usually the delicate and pretty kind. I don't really enjoy watching violence unless it is from a historical perspective. I also like the Masterpiece Theatres, and tend to watch Science of Sleep or Arrested Development when I need brain-rot fodder.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked with the Obama campaign in Indiana this year; it was an amazing learning experience and rewarding in so many ways, the least of which was a victory for the democratic party in Indiana for the first time since 1964. It felt good.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to make some yummy food. You can read my books and even borrow one for the flight if you want to. I can also teach you how to sew, make yarn, knit. I make a mean guacamole.
I'll be your friend forever if you write me a poem in another language.
I'd like to learn how to fold origami, play guitar* and I am always on the lookout for a tastier curry recipe.
I'd also love to learn to crochet, as my mom tried to teach me when I was a kid and it just didn't work out
hmm.. it appears I want to learn disproportionate to the amount I can teach

*I mean it about the guitar part! I have lived with so many music majors and I still can't play the gosh darn guitar! Sometimes I have these really vague dreams where I am completely magnanimously happy gliding through different places and when I wake up I realize that I have been simultaneously rollerskating and playing guitar. I have only mastered one of these things so happiness is just out of reach- that is where you come in!
