ABOUT ME

I'm an ex-New Yorker, always Vermonter, who decided to quit her life in the States and run off to Argentina. Since then, I've moved on to Chile, living by the beach in Reñaca. So far that bet is paying off: I'm learning every day and supporting myself as a writer here on this beautiful continent.

PHILOSOPHY

"Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid." Totally cheesy and normally I hate that stuff but 1) it's from Almost Famous and 2) it seems to be applying to my life lately. Cliches exist for a reason, no?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met one of my best friend through CouchSurfing, sort of indirectly. I was hanging out in a hostel with another CS'er and I started chatting with her while he was getting more drinks. You never know where the world might lead you..

Musica, film e libri

Ugh, I always hate this one. I read about a million books a week and can't ever remember their names. I do this weird thing where I don't really read titles, whether it's a book title or a chapter title. Not sure why.... I like fiction and a lot of nonfiction in the study of society genre.
Movies I don't watch a lot of.
Music runs the gamut. Lately I've been feeling old school Prince and Prince Pandora is my go-to station. I like to dance to electronic music, especially deep house. I like music with female singers... I guess I'm like most of the iTunes generation, huh?

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

A self described 16 year old "Crip" give up his seat to a woman with a stroller in an almost empty subway car in the Bronx on my very first day working with incarcerated teenagers. Blew my mind and will stay with me forever.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I know a whole lot about modern Chinese history, a bit about sewing/making clothes, a lot about vintage design, a lot about rebuilding houses... Plants! I like learning about plants and imparting what little knowledge I have. Right now I'm hoping to learn about everything and anything, really.
