About Me

I'm Georgie, I'm an English girl who's hardly ever in England . When I left University I kind of skipped the whole getting a proper job thing and buggered off first to live abroad and teach English. First I was a volunteer teacher in Nepal and then I worked in Busan, South Korea. As much as I loved living there, I couldn't hack teaching children anymore and left to do a backpacking trip around South East Asia. Since then I went to India to do my yoga teacher training and I now absolutely love teaching. The next big trip is Australia, I've got a one way ticket and a working holiday visa so let's see how it goes! I'm beyond excited for this next adventure! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's quite simple really, I just love meeting new people and making friends. Some of my best friends I have met whilst traveling. It's great to share experiences and adventures. This is my first time couch surfing! I'm really excited to get a real feel for places, meet local people and get out of the backpacker bubble.

Interests

I adore yoga, I like to practice most days, it keeps me happy! I also love to share it with others. Last year I traveled to India to do yoga teacher training and I haven't looked back since. But I'm not your typical yogi, I do eat meat and drink alcohol (I believe everything in moderation).

I'm also a big lover of food, and I mean ALL food, I will try anything once. (Don't get me started on some of the weird things I've tried haha) I especially love Korean, Spanish and Thai. I could spend hours pouring over recipe books and watching the great British bake off .

Traveling is another big passion of mine, it's my honestly my favorite thing to do. I've worked, volunteered, backpacked, holidayed all over the place. Sometimes I think I've done a lot my scratch map still doesn't look as satisfying as I had hoped haha

Music, Movies, and Books

Music

My favorite playlist on Spotify is called the NU Modern.

I'll always go for a bit of Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Muse etc from when I was younger.

Nowadays I'm a bit more chill, Ben Howard, James Bay, Ed Sheeran, Of Monsters and Men and the XX. I'm really into Kaleo, and Alt J at the moment.

A little bit of Destiny's child/Beyonce and 90s R&B always goes down well too!

Movies

I love a good comedy! Mr's Doubt fire is my favorite and I like silly teenage boy comedies like Super Bad, Wayne's World or Austin Powers or something more girly like Bridesmaids or Bridget Jones,

Books

Harry Potter! I once dressed up as Hagrid at a Harry Potter pub crawl.

My favorites of the top of my head are, The Kite Runner, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Green Mile, A picture of Dorian Grey and the Handmaid's tales.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I backpacked India all by myself! My first ever solo trip in not exactly the easiest country ever. I was so happy and proud (I nearly cried) when I saw the Taj Mahel on my very last day, thinking over all the crazy experiences both amazing and horrendous it took to get there.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach

If you fancy a little pop up yoga class, I'm more than happy to teach you! I'm a yoga teacher and I absolutely love sharing my favorite thing to do. So if there's anything you want to learn about yoga, chat about, practice or work on feel free to ask me.

Learn

In my yoga teacher training, travels and at home I've dipped my toe into the practice of meditation but I still feel like a "beginner", so if you have anything to share that would be lovely.

I love music, food, reading and exploring (I mean who doesn't?!) so if you have any interesting recipes , a cool new band or book that you're into or that place you've always wanted to go that would be awesome.

Share

Joey doesn't share food! But I do :D One of my absolute favorite things about traveling and socializing is food! If you want to cook together, have a dinner party, go out for lunch or just talk (drool) all day about different cuisines, I'm all about it!
