About Me

CURRENT MISSION

seek. dream. imagine. learn. do. help.

ABOUT ME

I've lived in the South and on the West Coast, as well as overseas, and ended up in Michigan in recent years because I came here for grad school. I've been a social worker, teacher, writer, editor - now, work with to design large enterprise websites for a digital agency in Detroit. When I'm not working I like to focus on the important things in life, like friends, helping others, travel and learning. I live with my boyfriend, who is a native of Romania, but a German citizen (he's fluent in both languages, and also loves hosting couch surfers!)

PHILOSOPHY

to thine own self be true...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

i host folks, mainly, and try to show the positive side of Detroit.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I lived in New Orleans for nine years and I think everyone I ever knew came to surf my couch in that time, before there was a couchsurfing website!...I love having company and love being on the road myself, as much as my life has allowed. I have received so much kindness from strangers in my travels, that I am happy to keep the karma loop going for the good of all. I love tapping into that kindness-to-travelers vibe, no matter the end of the stick I am on.I've couch surfed on three continents; i feel it's the most organic way to travel... to share people's homes and really dwell in the energy of the most basic, intimate, and nurturing spaces of the human environment. That's how it has been for most people for most of history, so why not use technology to facilitate this community-building practice?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rode the ferry to Vancouver Island in Pacific North West and playful whales followed us along. ate strawberries with gypsy children in the open air market in Italy. Swam in the illuminated blue water of a lit-from-below oceanside cave in the mediterranean...I love life and find a lot of everyday things amazing, like sunsets or flocks of birds, or interactions between people.
