About Me

CURRENT MISSION

act easy, radiate presence, travel light, seem a dream, prove real.

ABOUT ME

I am Latvian and have recently moved from Riga to Rome with all my belongings, moved in with my boyfriend and am slowly learning the city.
Enjoy meeting new people, learning from them, even if it is just swapping with recent playlists, i like to host even if it is just dinner, i love being hosted by others. I think i am very curious, which is reason why my new hobbies appear at incredible speed and get replaced by others even newer (or well forgotten old ones).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I do host people that I find interesting and inspiring.
I believe CouchSurfing is not so much about free accommodation as about company and experience. So if I receive unpersonalized request asking to stay overnight between two transports, i generally do not host. Also, if I receive 2 sentence generic invite to hang out from almost empty profile, I might not answer too. It is perfectly fine to have no references in the beginning (we all have been there), but in the end of the day you are asking for my time, so please invest a bit of your time to update profile info or just write a bit more in message why do you want to meet me.
If, on the other hand, i receive request from person with similar tastes and interests (but not necessarily) who wants to meet me too, not just crush briefly in our apartment - you are more than welcome! :)

DEAR NEW MEMBERS (seems to be many of you out there) - Stop for a minute and think before you start writing requests! When you choose hosts, you look for ones with more detailed profile info (so you feel somehow safer knowing them, even just virtualy) right? I will tell you little secret - hosts do the same! Please spend some time to fill in information so we know whom we should welcome to our homes (or avoid at all costs)! Spamming 100 hosts with generic messages from brand new, empty profile is highly ineffective! I always say no, I have feeling that absolute majority of other hosts too. Spend some time on your representation! Your profile is all we know about you, it does not have to be long, just to the point so we get who are you? And then you can actually write much less messages before you succeed in finding a host! It might surprise you but this is a 2 way street and it actually works! You just have to give as well, not just demand what you need!

I DON'T ACCEPT CS FRIEND INVITES IF I HAVEN'T MET YOU IN REAL LIFE! I don't use CS as facebook, so I only accept friend invites after hosting, couchsurfing or hanging out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used to host couch surfers in Riga time to time, but i was never one of the hyper active hosts that had a guest over every week. I started to host in Rome but I do not feel the need to help all travellers with limited funds and no place to sleep. I only host if I feel possible connection and actual person behind the request.
When i travel i love to meet locals, so i try to stay or at least to meet up with couchsurfers elsewhere.

DEAR LAST MINUTE TRAVELLERS - ATTENTION - if you arrive today or tomorrow, I cannot host you! I have my plans and frankly, find this approach a bit entitled and lazy. You keep your given right to be spontaneous, whereas I am expected to be always ready with house prepared for guests. Not my format! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe I am above average cook, so I can share some cooking tips or recipes.
As a curious and crafty person I always have some discovery of the day/week/month - like how to do something regular but much faster, or much more fun or just in a different way.
