ABOUT ME

I've been on exchange to Estonia and lived in Chile for a few months. I work in special events and am a festival junkie. I lived in Guadalajara, Mexico for a year and a half teaching English, I had an awesome time and knew it was the only way I'd learn Spanish fast. I'm known for having a good sense of humour and being bold.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't like to try to capture everything on a camera. Some things can't be contained in a frame. Humour is also very important, I'm not afraid to talk to strangers and ask politely about things people don't normally have the guts to. Always respectful of course, I just have an inquisitive mind.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have couchsurfed in various countries and I go to meet ups sometimes. I hope to be able to host when I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was really excited about couchsurfing as I've always wanted to experience countries from a local's perspective rather than staying at a backpackers as I want to really see how people live and share in the experience as well. Making a connection is what drives my desire to travel. Some people you click with, others you don't but on the whole it's been really positive.

Intereses

I love dancing salsa, tango, watching arthouse films, photography, radio, participating in festivals, going to the theatre, extreme sports like skydiving, scuba diving and meeting people from different backgrounds and listening to their experiences.

Top movies include Strictly Ballroom (quintessentially Australian - same director as Moulin Rouge), Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Y Tu Mama Tambien, Spaceballs for laughs, Magnolia, Monty Python, A Clockwork Orange. Books by Peter Carey, Paul Auster. Favourite bands include Bersuit, Cafe Tacuba and Florence + The Machine.

Algo increíble que he hecho

Amazing things could be spending a morning in the air above the Nazca lines and in the afternoon sandboarding down the highest sand dunes but these are just great experiences. Watching traditional canoes come to shore at dawn at the Festival of Pacific Arts Opening Ceremony in the Solomon Islands. Getting kidnapped by a mutant hippopotamus vehicle at Burning Man.

I like to learn about the culture of the people I'm visiting. History and artistic practice are my main interests.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I can show them some fun stuff to see in Melbourne, particularly to do with arts and culture. There's a lot of free events on in the city also.
