ABOUT ME
About us, we are Katey and Nick (a more recent addition to the couchsurfing community, 2011). We are currently living in the beautiful and almost unknown South West Scotland renovating a former church hall into a home. We live at the edge of the Dumfries and Galloway national park which has lots of beautiful walking and places for adventures.
Katey is a social researcher and studying for her PhD in regeneration and the role of the voluntary sector. I have been couch surfing for six years now and have met some incredible people who have challenged perceptions on how to travel, live and meet others. My motto is that you have never really traveled through a place unless you have lived with the locals!
Nick is relatively new to couchsurfing (2011) when we traveled through Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia and Bulgaria meeting some incredible people. Nick works hard, makes beautiful concrete sculptures and shares a love of beautiful concrete buildings.
We also have a dog Sofi who loves swimming and running on the beach.
PHILOSOPHY
to make new experiences and ultimatly new memories
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We can offer a place to stay for a couple of nights or some where to stay for a longer time in exchange for helping us with our home renovation. Please get in contact if you have any particular skills!
****Please do not send couch requests unless you have invested in the couch surfing community through hosting and getting some good references - sorry have had too many bad experiences with guests treating our hospitality as a free hotel!****
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Have been couchsurfing since 2006, met many interesting people, had many amazing times and many more adventures planned.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living in our campervan for three months, then a room with no hot water for over a year whilst building our home!! We now have hot water!
Camping out under the stars on wave rock in Western Australia, taking the midnight train across Poland into Prague, eating endless amounts of food with mamma's from across the world, random friends, and riding a motorbike down an endless road.
Exploring the delights of soviet architecture and the endless warmth and hospitality of those from the Balkans.
Teach, Learn, Share
Dance, laugh, cook, eat and travel

We can offer a sofa bed and double room to accommodate lots of people if needed.
We can offer longer stays in exchange for some work on the house, this would also include an evening meal.
