About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of the world as I can and learn languages along the way

ABOUT ME

Before moving to France and becoming an ESL teacher I did research at the University of Pittsburgh. So, just so you know, I'm a bit of a geek at times...

I'm pretty laid back and happy overall. I like a wide variety of activities. Basically anything that has to do with the outdoors (rock climbing, biking), drinking (in vino, veritas), eating (vegetarian, chocolat lover), art, cinema, music (3 categories for which there isn't enough room to list even my favorites) or chatting (tell me a joke, it's a lost art!).

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice. Growing up, my mom would do things like pick up strangers at a bus stop in the pouring rain so they wouldn't have to carry groceries in inclement weather. If I can help someone, I will try my hardest!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to travel and meet new people. This seems the optimal way to achieve both goals

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've both surfed and hosted, and I now can't imagine traveling any other way.

Interests

Instead of listing all my interests, of which there are many, I will share some of the things I have done in the past:

- I played recorder in a band with an electric bass, percussionist, mandolin and organ
- I step climbed: "One city, 712 sets of steps, 44,645 treads, 24,108 vertical feet. Sort of like climbing Mt. Everest." -Bob Regan on step climbing in Pittsburgh
- I tried Portuguese Firewater in a small French bar in Tournan-en-Brie
- I wandered in from outside to listened to an amazing impromptu organ solo in a church in Nantes
- I went to see Kylián's Petite Mort
- I collect Kindersurprises, which we don't have access to in the States
