ABOUT ME

A good friend once said to me, "Being with you is like being alone." She explained what she meant by this, but I've forgotten. Maybe you can figure it out.

PHILOSOPHY

Do something different (or the same, i mean, whatever you're into)

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies! I will sit through almost anything. There are two independent video stores in walking distance from where I live(d). Life has rarely been better. Recent cinematic discovery: Total Balalaika Show, dir. Aki Kaurismaki. It's... a concert movie. I don't have the adjectives to describe it, but you can look up clips on YouTube and see for yourself.

Three of the most wonderful books I've encountered in the past year are
The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman
by Laurence Sterne,
Accordion Crimes
by Annie Proulx, and
Right Under the Big Sky I Don't Wear a Hat
by Hosai Ozaki

I listen to Robyn Hitchcock (with or without The Soft Boys, The Egyptians, or The Venus 3) more frequently than any of my other music. I also enjoy folk music from various countries, '80s New Wave, Ragtime, and nearly anything featuring the accordion.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have stumbled upon an improbable number of top-notch friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like hearing people's stories and occasionally sharing my own. I want to learn how to repair accordions and how to play them better. I am willing to attempt to teach what I already know of these skills. I am also happy to swap tunes with other musicians!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Iceland, Mexico, Netherlands, Serbia, Slovenia, United Kingdom, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
