About Me

ABOUT ME

Well, I'm a very curious guy, who loves to travel. I like knowing different cultures and places and sharing my own culture and knowledge whenever I can.
I like hiking, ciclying and love exploring small towns, because I think that's where you can really learn how the common life is in foreign places.
I also like talking about politics, literature, films and music, and of course, going out for a drink or dancing whenever there's a chance.
I've been a chemistry student for 4 years, but found out that working in a lab wouldn't fulfill me so I dropped out of university in 2009. I kept learning English and got my TKT and CPE degrees some years later. I grew concerned about education and read a lot about that. Some time later I gave some maths and sciences classes for small kids using the new approaches and techniques learned. They were a success! all my students passed their exams.
I am also an aikido practitioner, a martial art that shaped a big deal of my character.
I'am also concerned about sustaintability, and eco friendly ways of living (sustainable construction, rehusable materials, energy saving practises)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm in couchsurfing because I think this phylosophy of sharing (even a couch) helps us regain the feel for empathy. For helping other human being for being a person, just that, not considering place of birth, religion, language or gender.
We are lacking this virtue, and fostering this "help each other" community will help to spread empathy.
Plus, is a great way to travel cheap and getting to know really cool people on the way!!!

Interests

I love summer, and really enjoy a day at the beach.
I also like martial arts, and absolutely love cycling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like nearly all kinds of music, speacially rock and blues.
My favourite movies are Terminator 2, 300, V for Vendetta, The watchmen, Matrix, Lord of the rings, Back to the future, etc... I've got a long list...
If we're talking about books... well... I got hooked with Game of Thrones (who wouldn't!) but I've also a lot from Stephen King, Assimov, George Orwell (animal farm/1984), Ray Bradbury, Ken Robinson, and so on... I love reading!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing trip I've done was to Cuba in 2007. I traveled as part of a solidarity brigade. And as that, we took lots of medical supplies and stuff to the island. We also did some voluntary work in rural communities and spend some time there in an international camp.
After that, we went to explore de island for 15 days with some friends from the camp and went all across the island from La Habanna to Santiago de Cuba. Traveling in local transport, staying with locals in their houses, and living the true way of cuban life (although, with a better budget, but not that much better...)
That trip was the best trip in my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

As I said before I´m very concerned about teaching, specially sciencies, which I believe, have been taught wrong for so many years that now most people are afraid of them. I also like teaching aikido and languages. So I would love to be of use in these fields.
On the other hand, I´m curious, and love learning new things, I doesn´t matter what, it can be a new recipee or a new construction method or some musical instrument. Just amazed of new things.
I really believe that nowadays, that knowledge is online, the real importance is not how to find knowledge but how we transmit it, and to avoid becoming robot like people, gathering, sharing, talking (no cellphone pls!) to each other, are a must.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What can I do for my host? well... I'm not a terrific cook, but I can manage a decent meal or two! plus, I'm quite a handyman and can help you with any project you have which involves repairments/painting/gardening, or just helping you with your way back home from the groceries.
